Former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Victoria Kalina Announces Her Next Chapter After Retiring at End of Netflix Docuseries

Former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Victoria Kalina is ushering in a new era after officially leaving the DCC franchise at the end of new hit Netflix docuseries, America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

In a Q&A posted to YouTube on June 23, Kalina, 24, shared that she would be moving to New York “in 12 days” to train for the Radio City Rockette auditions.

“I’ve always known that after cheering for the Cowboys I wanted to continue my dance journey in New York City,” Kalina said. She explained that she always "admired" the Rockettes and plans to “just hop in and train my little hiney off.”

“I know it’s a very competitive and rigorous audition process,” she said. “I am going to put in that work but I’m also going to be so open to any and all opportunities that are out there.”

Throughout America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, Kalina was open about her mental health struggles while on the team and revealed that she “got into therapy" while taking a gap year from DCC in 2021.

"I've learned that I do not like to feel my feelings, so I think that's why I cover up any emotions that I have,” she said. “I think we all kind of have a tendency to put up a front and that's just not okay, because when you're not feeling good, you need to let people know." 

At the end of season 1, Kalina had several conversations in the docuseries with DCC director Kelli Finglass and choreographer Judy Trammell about her fifth and final season with the squad, where they implied that Kalina would not be made a squad captain if she was picked for the team again. 

After continued discussions with Finglass and Trammell, Kalina decided to officially retire from DCC and not vie for a fifth season. 

“That was just kinda a hard pill to swallow at first. I didn't see it coming at all," Kalina said in the series. "Yes, I could prove them wrong and yes I would love to, but I don't need to. I know I proved them, like, over and over, time and time again. I don't need to do it again."

As she begins this new journey, Kalina told her vlog viewers, "I might go up there and hate it, but I don’t think that’s gonna happen because I’ve been dreaming of New York City being my home forever."

"And I’m so excited to say that is finally happening," she said.
