Apex, the popular Hosford-Abernethy beer bar and patio, will pour its last pints at Southeast Division Street and Southeast 12th Avenue at the end of August. The bar opened in 2010.

“The latest curveball is that our lease isn’t being renewed,” an announcement on Instagram from June 30 reads. “Just when things were starting to feel like they’re returning to a pre-COVID vibe, we’re on the hunt for a new home.” The post outlines plans to stay in the neighborhood, but states the bar would be willing to relocate elsewhere in Portland “if it’s a great fit.” Over its 14-year run, Apex gained popularity for offering a curated tap list of 50 beers — including the highly sought-after Pliny the Elder — and its large patio with plentiful bike parking.

Broder Nord opens a hot dog window

Broder Nord, the Boise-neighborhood location of the mainstay Nordic restaurant, opened a hot dog window last Friday. Bra Hund, Swedish for “good dog,” serves Nordic-style hot dogs like the Stockholm Dog (beef frank, mashed potatoes, and bay shrimp salad on lavash) and the Bring the Beet In, a hot dog topped with beet relish, bacon, and horseradish cream. The window also sells æbleskiver skewers, baked goods, and dog treats. Bra Hund is open Thursday through Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
