Submarine Hospitality’s Richmond pizza restaurant Cicoria will close on June 29. The restaurant from the team behind Ava Gene’s is known for its party-cut pizza, house-made pasta, and seasonal salads.
This decision has been monumentally difficult, but given the rough and unforgiving market conditions Portland is currently experiencing, we feel there’s no other choice,” reads the closing announcement. “We wholeheartedly hope to return soon with a new and exciting concept in this beautiful space.”

SportsBox Vegan Grill & Game Lounge
This vegan bar is set to close on June 30. “Despite our best efforts to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing market, circumstances have made it impossible for us to continue,” reads the closing announcement.
Cache Cache
Chef John Denison has closed Cache Cache, the raw bar located in the back of Fracture Brewing’s taproom. “We had a great year serving you all but John has many more ideas up his sleeve and will be pursuing those both in Portland and abroad,” reads a statement on Instagram. “All of us will be looking forward to following your next adventures as you prepare for your journey to France.”
Emperor Georgiou’s Tea Room
Emperor Georgiou’s, Kenton’s BIPOC-owned, Star Trek-themed tea room, has closed permanently. “On top of the ongoing difficulties in making the business financially sustainable and the resulting personal financial losses, we have moved to California to help support and spend more time with our aging parents,” owners Brendon and Wellington Georgiou write in a statement on the restaurant’s website.
Demarco’s Sandwiches
After five years, Reuben Demarco closed the Division Street location of his sandwich cart, Demarco’s, on June 17. The business is keeping its mobile truck available for catering events.
