A new activity in 2024!

Would you like to know how voyageurs got around in the fur trade era?

This summer, take part in an introductory voyageur canoe paddling activity presented by guide-interpreters from the Fur Trade at Lachine and Lachine Canal National Historic Sites!

On the agenda: explanations of paddling technique, guided voyageur canoe expedition on the Lachine Canal, interpretation of the fur trade, folk songs, and more.

Schedule and length: there are two departures per day, at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Please arrive at least 15 minutes in advance at the meeting point.
The voyageur canoe experience lasts 2.5 hours (including travel time and water safety briefing).
Please allow time before or after the Voyageur Canoe to visit the fur warehouse, depending on the time* of your activity.

*The Fur Trade at Lachine National Historic Site is normally open from 10 am to 5 pm, but see Opening hours to plan your visit.

Fees: payment must be made by telephone at 514-637-7433. An email will be sent to confirm your registration.
Children aged 5 to 9: free (includes free entry for youth aged 17 and under). Children aged 4 and under cannot participate in this activity.
Children aged 10 to 17: $10 (includes free entry for youth aged 17 and under)
Adults 18 to 64: $14.50 (includes entry fees)
Seniors 65 and over: $14.50 (includes entry fees)

  • Important Information

    The Learn-To Paddle - Voyageur Canoe Experience takes place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, as well as on public holidays**, from June 21 to September 2, 2024.

    Meeting point is outside The Fur Trade at Lachine National Historic Site, at 1255, boul. Lachine, QC H8S 2M2. See Plan your visit.

    The minimum age required to participate is 5. Children aged 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

    The activity is not accessible to people with reduced mobility, nor for children aged 4 and under.

    The activity takes place even if it rains, but Parks Canada keeps the right to cancel if weather conditions compromise the safety of the activity.

    **The public holidays are Monday, June 24, Monday, July 1 and Monday, September 2, 2024.
