    Tarım, Nijerya ekonomisine en büyük katkıyı sağlayan sektördür. Ülke nüfusunun yüzde 65'inden fazlası geçimlerini doğrudan ya da dolaylı olarak tarımdan sağlamaktadır. Kadınlar ve gençler sektörün ekonomik olarak aktif nüfusunun yüzde 50-70'ini oluşturmaktadır. Birleşmiş Milletler Gıda ve Tarım Örgütü (FAO), Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Tarım ve Orman Bakanlığı ve Nijerya Federal Cumhuriyeti ile işbirliği içinde ülkedeki çiftçilerin ve kurumların kapasite gelişimini desteklemektedir. Bu destek, sürdürülebilir bitkisel üretim yönetim tekniklerini teşvik etmeyi amaçlayan bir proje aracılığıyla gerçekleştiriliyor. Proje, çiftçilerin, tarım ve yayın uzmanlarının ve araştırmacıların ürün yetiştirme sistemlerinin çeşitlendirilmesi ve gelişmiş ürün yönetim tekniklerinin benimsenmesi ve teşvik edilmesi konusundaki kapasitelerini geliştirmeyi amaçlıyor.

    The High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) will be held from Monday, 8 July, to Wednesday, 17 July 2024, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council. This includes the three-day ministerial segment of the forum from Monday, 15 July, to Wednesday, 17 July 2024, as part of the High-level Segment of the Council. The last day of the High-level Segment of ECOSOC will be on Thursday, 18 July 2024. The theme will be "Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable,resilient and innovative solutions”.These key messages summarize FAO's input in the preparatory processes and are intended to support discussions at the upcoming Forum. They outline the challenges faced for SDG progression and the necessary actions to be undertaken for the achievement of the 2030 Agenda as a whole.
