David Allen Amato
July 13, 1940 - July 3, 2024
David Allen Amato, 83, of Henderson, Nevada, died on July 3, 2024.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1940 to Angelo and Josephine Amato. He graduated from Parma High School before starting his work life. Always a hard worker, he labored in the loading docks at Cleveland's historic West Side Market - Cleveland's longest operating public market. He followed his brother Richard and father, Angelo to Las Vegas in 1979 where he started his 40-year career in the gaming industry at the Fremont Hotel & Casino as a Blackjack dealer. Over the years he also worked at the Stardust, the Las Vegas Hilton, and Mandalay Bay. When he retired, David was a Floor Supervisor at Mandalay Bay. A lifelong sports fan, David was a huge Brown's and Indian's fan (and never quite warmed up to calling his baseball team the "Guardians"). He was also an avid boxing fan and loved the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
David will always be remembered for his Sunday suppers with family. Quite the cook, the meals more often than not leaning Italian (he made "THE BEST" red sauce and fried eggplant - using his mother's recipes), but food grilled on his BBQ was a close second. Supper at David's house was not for the timid as no matter how much one ate, he insisted that you had not eaten enough. There was always a glass or two of red wine to wash things down. We'll always imagine hearing him say this or that was "THE BEST" and many of us have adopted this as our way of voicing our approval of anytime we really enjoy something. We couldn't have asked for a better parent/grandparent/friend and will miss David every day.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Angelo and Josephine Amato, his brother Richard Amato, his brother, Joseph Amato, and his daughter, Vicki Amato. He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Corcoran (Paul Kirst), his son Angelo Amato (Jenna Amato), 6 grandchildren, and one great grandchild as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will the held on Saturday July 13th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church located at 130 N Pecos Rd, Henderson, NV 89074 with a reception immediately following at Joe's Place, 375 North Gibson Road, 89014.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
