Kathmandu wins!   We are so excited to announce that, yesterday, Kathmandu was awarded a 2024 ISPO Award for our soon-to-launch Feather Flight Carry-On Trolley: one of the lightest carry-on suitcases in its class.   Kathmandu’s Feather Flight Carry-On is a small but mighty powerhouse, designed to give travellers the largest amount of space for the least amount of weight. The innovation weighs an ultra-light 1.6 kilograms and boasts an impressive 40 litres of internal packing volume, making it one of the lightest bags in its class, globally, for airline travel.   The Feather Flight Carry-On Trolley lands across New Zealand and Australia in September 2024, and across our international markets in March 2025.   Congratulations to our Product team on this brilliant innovation and achievement – we are beyond proud! 👏

    • Our DACH Country Manager, Benedikt Noth, attending the ISPO Awards ceremony at Outdoor by ISPO in Munich, and accepting our award! Thanks Benedikt!
    • Kathmandu’s Feather Flight Carry-On Trolley in Dark Eddy. The main fabric is made from a combination of 93% recycled ripstop nylon and 7% UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene): an incredibly tough fibre often used to craft personal armour and climbing equipment.
    • Kathmandu’s Feather Flight, featuring our all-new patent-pending exLight exoskeleton hard shell. The triangular, grid-shaped lattice structure, designed specifically for this product, gives the trolley an incredible strength - when considering strength-to-weight ratio - allowing it to withstand impact without affecting its maneuverability.

A proud moment! This week, we announced our partnership with New Zealand’s very own Red Bull F1 Reserve Driver, Liam Lawson, to launch our latest product innovation: the Epiq SE. Born and raised in Aotearoa, Liam Lawson was gifted his first go kart at seven years old, and never looked back. Now, at 22, with thanks to bold dreams, unwavering motivation and significant sacrifice, Lawson brings his Kiwi spirit and determination to the global stage of Formula 1. Like Lawson, Kathmandu pushes boundaries and pursues innovation, which is why we, as proud Kiwis, have partnered to debut our Epiq SE Down Jacket: a special edition of our heritage puffer. 👇 Listen to Liam tells us about his first Kathmandu memory. 👉 Learn more about Liam Lawson for Kathmandu and our Epiq SE via www.kathmandu.co.nz or www.kathmandu.com.au.

A highlight of 2023 at Kathmandu has been our product collaboration with iconic visual artist, Jason Woodside. Woodside is known for his largescale mural artworks, often painted on the greyscale walls of the world’s metropolises, including New York City where he studied art and lived for two decades, to inspire feelings of positivity for passers’ by. For Kathmandu, Woodside channelled his signature style to deliver a design that contrasts nature, with his vibrant artwork applied to a carefully curated range of Kathmandu apparel and hard goods, purposefully designed to help New Zealanders and Australians live their best lives outdoors this Summer. “This has been such a special project. As a brand, we focus on the joy the outdoors can bring, and to put it simply, Jason’s colourful work is joyful. Pairing that with our combined love for nature and the outdoors, our connection is seamless.” - Kathmandu’s Head of Product Creative, jennifer zollars. 👇 Watch the below video for an insight into the Kathmandu x Woodside collaboration story. 🎒 You can also shop the range online in NZ and AU, or in select stores. 🌄 And if you’re local to the Blue Mountains, NSW, or passing through, be sure to stop at the Katoomba Street Art Walk to see the Kathmandu x Woodside mural, painted by Jason earlier this month. #kathmandugear #outthere

In big news at Kathmandu: we recently overhauled our loyalty program, transitioning from Summit Club to Out There Rewards, with the mission to better align with our brand purpose of improving the wellbeing of the world through the outdoors. Summit Club, launched in 1994, rewarded members primarily through spend-and-save. Now, through Out There Rewards, we are rewarding New Zealanders and Australians for spending time in nature; members are invited to ‘log’ their time spent moving, exploring and connecting outdoors, to unlock a series of exclusive member benefits, and the opportunity to climb through four levels of membership the more they get out there. Since launching in September, we have seen over 7,800 Out There Rewards members complete over 37,000 outdoor activities, like bushwalking, hiking, or simply admiring a clifftop view, and be rewarded for every single one. Out There Rewards sets a new standard for loyalty programs in the Australian and New Zealand outdoor market. We invite you all to join and use it as your launch pad to living your best life out there.

A pilot program is taking damaged, returned and sample Kathmandu products that wouldn't otherwise make it into stores and refurbishes them to be resold under the Kathman-REDU label. Partnering with UPPAREL, used and damaged clothes are collected via specialist bins at 24 stores across Melbourne. Kathmandu aims to refurbish and sell 5,000 clothing items through the pilot, with the reincarnated products available at their stores in Richmond and the Galleria in Melbourne's CBD. At the end of the pilot, Kathmandu will assess if the program can be scaled up and introduced across more stores. The pilot is funded through our Circular Economy Business Innovation Centre (CEBIC) Business Innovation Fund. Read the full story at: https://lnkd.in/gfeapdXX

Kathmandu was recently part of the New Zealand Government’s announcement to bring in new legislation that addresses modern slavery. Deputy Prime Minister Carmel Sepuloni announced the proposal of a new public register which would require organisations with over NZD$20mil in revenue to transparently report on their operations and supply chains, and outline the actions they are taking to address exploitation risks. Chief Legal and ESG Officer for KMD Brands Limited Frances Blundell attended the announcement and spoke to media and key stakeholders about the reporting that Kathmandu has had in place for several years, and our efforts to address modern slavery. Since the pandemic, we’ve seen modern slavery increase globally. International Labour Organization now estimates that 50 million people are in modern slavery on any given day, compared to an estimated 40 million in 2016. This proposed legislation and public register will be among the world’s strongest reporting systems for tackling modern slavery. #Kathmandu #KMDBrands #ModernSlavery #Sustainability #Innovation #ASX #NZX
