This time last year, we called on NZTA to review its closure policy for the Auckland Harbour Bridge after yet another threat to close it had resulted in a day of lost productivity as workers stayed at home or left work early. The good news is that they appear to have listened! The Auckland Harbour Bridge is a critical piece of infrastructure, and decisions to close it should not be taken lightly; closures should only occur in extreme weather events. In the past year, there have been no threats to close the bridge, and when bad weather does strike, a more sensible approach is now being taken to keep traffic flowing. We are pleased that common sense has prevailed.
