Gap sales are always good, and they are only going to get better now that the brand has hired designer Zac Posen as creative director. But even before that, I could never pass up browsing its sale racks for quality basics like jean jackets, linen button-ups, comfortable shorts, socks, and underwear, and cute summer dresses. This Gap sale — actually, it’s two sales at once — is no exception, with 30 percent off summer essentials for men, women, kids, and babies, as well as an extra 30 percent off select items at checkout. As you might expect, things are going fast. So to help you make quick work of it, I picked a sampling of my favorite items (that still have a good amount of sizes available) at the lowest prices I could find.
Women’s
Oversize button-up shirts are my summer-layering hack, as they look good over literally everything from a bathing suit to a sundress. This one has a sweet menswear vibe and a slightly ’70s collar.
Not to be rude, but this dress does not look like it belongs at the Gap, or on sale, and certainly not on sale for $21. I can’t decide which color I like better, so I might just buy both.
It’s no secret that Gap bras are comfortable. This one is also pretty sexy.
Tiny little shift dresses are very hot right now, and because it’s linen, this dress will save you on the hottest, most humid days. I’d get it in navy and cherry red.
I like the light wash and cropped fit of this denim jacket. It also comes in black if that’s more your style.
Men’s
This is a shockingly good deal, and many of the eight colors/patterns are close to selling out. I suggest buying it fast before it’s gone.
If you’ve been curious about white denim, now is the time to try it.
The photo doesn’t do them justice, but these swim trunks are a great balance of classic colors and a fun pattern.
Chris Black just wrote about the best short-sleeve button-down shirts that aren’t camp collar or linen. But I’d like to use this shirt (at this price) as an argument in favor of both of those things.
Kids
I really wish these Rudy Jude/Carhartt/Stan Ray–esque carpenter jeans were for adults.
This would look great with the above jeans or worn open over a white sundress.
