Position Purpose

The purpose of this job is to manage the Human Resources team for the Netherlands and German operations and will be based in Amsterdam.

As an HR Manager you are responsible for developing, executing, and controlling the local HR policy in collaboration with Chevron's global HR management and the local management team. In this position you will be involved in operational, tactical, and strategic advisory work, always keeping the interests of both the organization and the employees in mind.

You will partner with Business Unit leaders to understand business drivers and challenges in order to develop and lead the deployment of HR programs, influence the design and support the implementation of HR initiatives and programs to meet business needs, and provide supervisory and manager coaching and policy expertise.

You will partner with HR Leaders to provide input into business goals, execute local HR initiatives and implement global HR programs as required. Work with their team to consult and provide solutions related to workforce, talent and organizational matters to shape the people strategy. Leverage relevant enterprise programs, tools, solutions and plans to support talent goals. Partner with the Center Of Expertise and HR Shared Services to ensure program alignment and support of business unit strategies and overall HR service delivery model.

As an HR generalist you manage three HR employees supporting employees in Netherlands and Germany.

The role

  • Proactively supporting the business in the field of HR and organizational development, including coaching, arbitrage and succession planning
  • Responsible for the implementation of HR policies and procedures and the integration of CREG into the Chevron culture
  • Actively drive change through process improvement and innovative solutions to facilitate successful outcomes
  • Ensuring further implementation / expansion of HRIS (Workday)
  • Support management in Works Council engagements
  • Ensure compliance with local labour laws, regulations and employment practices in the Netherlands and Germany
  • Coordinate with the HR Service Delivery Model to oversee compensation and benefit programs, employee wellness initiatives, talent acquisition and monthly payrolls.
  • Provide guidance for supervisors and employees on employee relations matters including dispute resolutions, disciplinary actions and terminations
  • Manage multiple HR vendors including Pension provider, Payroll provider, Benefit vendors and Recruitment agencies
  • Lead and provide guidance to the CREG HR team (3 direct reports).

Job Requirements

  • Completed HBO / WO education in Human Resource Management
  • At least 7 years of experience as HR Manager or HR Business Partner, preferably in the oil / gas / chemical industry
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrixed and international organization
  • Excellent communicative skills and command of the Dutch, English language, spoken and written, as well as ideally strong communication skills in German
  • Experience in building the necessary relationships to enhance and facilitate collaboration across the enterprise
  • Experience in negotiating employment conditions
  • Strong knowledge of Dutch and German labor legislation and social security policies
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Experience with ADP and Workday is an advantage
  • Experience in dealing with re-organizations and change management
