We plant giant kelp forests around the globe and, just like our seaweed, we’re growing quickly. This role is based in Luderitz, Namibia. Role Overview: ➡ Lead a team of lab/hatchery professionals. ➡ Manage nursery/hatchery protocols and operations. Qualifications: ➡ MSc in (marine) biology/chemistry. ➡ 3+ years in aquaculture lab/hatchery management. ➡ Experience with Macrocystis and micro/macroalgae is preferred. ➡ SCUBA certification is a plus. ➡ Strong planning, communication, and problem-solving skills. ➡ Namibian candidates preferred 🇳🇦 Attributes: ➡ “Can do, will do” mindset. ➡ Innovative, stress-resistant, and quality-focused. ➡ Team player with a passion for making a difference. What is Blue Carbon? 💡 📘 Blue carbon refers to the carbon captured and stored by coastal and marine ecosystems such as mangroves, seagrasses (including Giant Kelp), and tidal marshes. These #ecosystems are highly efficient at sequestering carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and storing it in their biomass and sediments. 📘 Blue carbon habitats can store carbon at rates up to four times higher than terrestrial forests on a per-area basis. Protecting and #restoring these ecosystems can help mitigate climate change by preserving their carbon storage capacity and preventing the release of stored carbon into the atmosphere.
