Alarming UNAIDS report: The urgency of NOW, AIDS at a crossroads   The world is off track to meet the 2025 targets for new infections and AIDS related deaths to below 250.000. Today, one person per minute dies of AIDS related causes. Nearly a quarter of people living with HIV, 9.3 million, do not have access to life-saving treatment. Despite the tremendous progress that has been made in preventing new HIV infections, they are on the rise in the Middle East and North Africa, Eastern Europa and Central Asia and Latin America, regions where incidentally the funding gap is biggest. And around the world funding is shrinking. We cannot let this happen! The report is called ‘The urgency of NOW’ for a good reason. Decisions taken this year will determine if global targets are met, if AIDS is ended by 2030. It is still possible, but action on all levels is required NOW.   We at i+solutions call on global leaders to hold on to the pledge made 20 years ago, to not waver in the support for this global fight and save millions of lives. #AIDS #HIV #leavenoonebehind #GlobalAIDSUpdate2024

Prevention is essential to end HIV Ahead of the International AIDS Conference taking place in München this week, a lot has been published about the promising #HIV #prevention methods in the pipeline. The positive trials concerning Lenacapavir (LEN), a 6-monthly long injectable that is showing 100% efficacy and superiority over oral PrEP, are the talk of the town. Expanding the prevention toolkit by adding LEN to oral PrEP, PEP, Dapivirin ring, and long-acting Cabotegravir (CAB-LA), leads to more use by adolescent girls and young women and is ultimately essential to end the spread of the disease. Over time, these long-acting injectables are expected to be approved for treatment as well. i+solutions is proud to have processed the first procurement orders of CAB-LA for Nigeria, Uganda and Cambodia to be delivered before yearend. As for the Dapivirine ring, i+solutions has been actively involved in contracting with the supplier and negotiating lower prices together with the Global Fund. We are very excited about the news that was published just now about the initiative between Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) and The Global Fund of up to US$2 million over the 2024-2025 period for the purchase of approximately 150,000 dapivirine vaginal rings. https://lnkd.in/e7rFdZdi We look forward to hearing what more will be revealed during the AIDS conference, as over 40 sessions are about research and development of HIV prevention! Wesley Kreft, i+solutions COO, is attending. Please let us know if you are interested to meet up. #AIDS2024

First turnkey containerized oxygen plants handover took place in Mauritania! It has been a long road, but a few weeks ago two PSA #oxygen plants supplied by Afrimed were officially handed over to the Mauritanian government. i+solutions ensured the procurement of the oxygen plants, construction at the hospital site, installation, commissioning of the plants and training of the local staff, making this a #turnkey solution!  The regional hospitals of Boghé and Zouératt, that serve hundreds of patients every day, can now produce their own #oxygen with a purity of over 93% and deliver it to patients directly at their beds via a newly installed medical gas #piping system (MGPS). The plants also allow for filling of oxygen #cilinders, up to 54 per day. The installed PSA plants will serve many other clinics in the region. Dr. Heyine of SENLS, the National Executive Secretariat for AIDS Control, says: “This is a #monumental step in improving #healthcare #infrastructure in #Mauritania. The joint visit by SENLS, i+solutions and AFRIMED enabled the PSA plants at the Boghé and Zouératt regional hospitals to be put into operation, making them self-sufficient in oxygen production, both for their facilities and those in the surrounding area, and to say goodbye to oxygen imports from other cities." The director of the hospital, Mr. Cheuf Ahmed Maadh, recognizes the significance of being finally able to produce oxygen locally and commented: “This initiative is a #gamechanger for our hospital and the communities we serve.“ The oxygen project, funded by The Global Fund, has a huge impact on health care delivery, but it does not come without challenges. Many hospitals have no structure whatsoever in place for oxygen production, meaning everything, from the foundation to the rooftop, has to be constructed. The electrical installation of the hospitals has to be upgraded and generators procured to make sure the oxygen plants have proper air-conditioning and do not get too hot. Locations are often far from the capital city, like in the case of Zouératt, at a one day drive. Our LSP A.P. Moller - Maersk provided excellent service, as did our supplier Afrimed. Communication was smooth between all parties, also with government officials and the hospital administration. 🙏 We want to thank all involved and our oxygen team for their hard work in getting this done. And we look forward to seeing many more plants commissioned soon, as several locations are now in the final stages of site preparation and installation. 👉 Keep following us for more updates! #everybreathcounts

Last week, we were honored to visit the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health in DRC. During this important visit, we had the privilege of presenting our recent results achieved through the USAID IHP project in supporting the Ministry's efforts to improve the pharmaceutical supply chain. We engaged in fruitful exchanges about the Ministry's future priorities and explored potential avenues to build upon what has been accomplished under the leadership of the government, both at national and provincial levels. We're excited about the positive impact our activities continue to make, together with our partners, in healthcare delivery in DRC and look forward to building on this momentum. Great pictures from Uganda, where i+solutions’ oxygen team and partners are working on site preparation for a skid mounted double PSA plant at 4 different regional hospitals. The simultaneous work in Hoima, Lira, Mbale, Mbarare, which started some 8 weeks ago, is progressing fast thanks to the amazing collaboration with the Ministry of Health - Uganda, local construction partner BHL and supplier Sinopharm. The plants will provide not only oxygen, but also medical air and vacuum, serving not only the 4 mentioned regional hospitals! Clinics in the region will be able to fill their cylinders near and fast, which is crucial to satisfy local demand. The commissioning of all 4 sites is expected already at the beginning of September. We are proud of our team and partners who navigate flexibly on this challenging path and are managing design and construction of the site and installation of the plants in less than 5 months! Since 2021, i+solutions procures medical Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) oxygen plants on behalf of The Global Fund for hospitals in low and middle income countries. We expanded our services to delivering turn-key medical oxygen PSA plant solutions, supporting the in-country stakeholders with site preparation activities such as design and construction. A few years into the project, we are now delivering hundreds of PSA plants to over 50 countries. Flavio Cerro Frank Rammeloo #oxygen #pandemicpreparedness #everybreathcounts
