📢Outcome INTERDEM Academy Publication Award 2023/2024📄 We are very happy to inform you about the outcome of our INTERDEM Academy Publication Award! This year we received 10 very interesting papers for our publication award, which then left our jury with the task of selecting one winner and two runners-up. Articles were assessed on innovative aspects, research quality, originality, PPI and their link with the INTERDEM mission. We want to thank our members of the jury for providing us with their careful considerations and final ranking. Interdem: Article of the Month. Proud to have contributed (as the last author) to this paper, which INTERDEM selected as the Article of the month April 2024. Highlights: • Rehabilitation for people with dementia should be tailored and person-centered. • Needs assessment is key to a person-centered approach. • Systematic needs assessment is required to ensure equal access to rehabilitation. • Needs unfold in socially situated processes, influenced by environmental factors. • In needs assessment both tools and procedures should be taken into consideration. Excited to share an opportunity for #dementia and #technology researchers: a special issue of the journal Digital Health (IF 4.4) on Assisstive Technologies in Dementia Care is now open for submissions! Attention for dementia in a general digital health journal is well-deserved. There's so much hype surrounding assisstive technologies in dementia. It's great to have the opportunity with this special issue to cut through that, and stimulate debate about what works, and what future practice and research should prioritise. Scope of submissions to this special issue includes, observational and experimental research over the full lifecycle of technology development and implementation. We're also interested in research into relevant ethical and legal issues. I will be co-editing this special issue, with colleagues from the INTERDEM Assistive Technology Taskforce Lizzy Boots and Manuel Franco. Submissions are open until January 2025. We are looking for “Dementia researchers of the future” willing to share their work and research on “Innovative approaches to dementia”. Please submit your application for one of these bursaries by sending in your abstract and a short bio by 15 May 2024 via the abstract submission portal under the topic “Dementia researchers of the future – Innovative approaches to dementia”. Thanks to colleagues from HOMEDEM and INTERDEM for running a fascinating event that I could attend yesterday on design, technology and dementia! It was really inspiring to hear pitches about the valuable research being done within HOMEDEM. Also really affirming to hear that our own research protocol to evaluate feasibility of a digital version of a discrete choice experiment for identifying care preferences of people with dementia and caregivers was so relevant to our colleagues' research!
