On June 28, 2024, I had the honor to sign the Framework Agreement between WFEO and UNESCO at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. This Agreement sets the stage for mutual cooperation towards common strategic objectives until March 2032.
Dr. Lidia Brito, UNESCO's Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences, highlighted the Strategic Plan for the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development during the signing. WFEO has been chosen as a strategic partner and nominated to the Executive Committee, in the company of UNESCO, ISC, Earth Humanity Coalition, 6 Member States, and 5 UN agencies.
I took the opportunity to discuss the preparations for the 2025 World Engineering Day in Paris, aiming for high-profile attendance and proposing a theme. Furthermore, I provided updates on WFEO's various initiatives, including the Engineering Capacity Building for Africa Programme, WFEO Academy, and advancements in IEA Accreditation, such as IEM (Mauritius) achieving Provisional Signatory status of the Washington Accord.
The meeting marked a significant success, paving the way for collaboration and progress for both parties.
