American Business Council Nigeria attended the events organised by the US State Department and the The Wilson Center on the 24th of July and the DC Small Business Development Center Network and the Howard University event which took place the 25th of July during the AGOA Forum. The event focused on the opportunities available to women entrepeneurs in Africa, opportunities for match making with SMEs in the area and existing SME platforms. The event also showcased the products of women from members of women groups like the AWEP

The American Business Council Nigeria partnered with the U.S.-Africa Business Center of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to host the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr. Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite (Doris Anite MD, CFA) to a Roundtable. The event held on the 26th of July on the margins of the #AGOA Summit. The Honourable Minister shared the updates on the U.S - Nigeria relationship including the signing of the Commercial Investment Partnership with the US Secretary of Commerce, the different levels of work in ensuring the ease of doing business and retaining Foreign direct Investors through reviewing existing policies and regulations like fostering Global best practice IP systems, creating Economic zones, resolving specific regulations in the FMCG space and talent Export opportunities. The President of the Center, Kendra Gaither stressed the importance of continuous dialogue and collaboration and Margaret Olele thanked the Minister for previous engagements and looked forward to future partnership. American Business Council Nigeria joined SMEDAN, the Nigeria Export Promotion Council under the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment at the Embassy of Nigeria on the margins of AGOA Summit in Washington to engage Nigerians in the Diaspora on the opportinities to invest in Nigeria. The Honourable Minister was represented by the ED/CEO of Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Nonye Ayeni. The DG/CEO of SMEDAN Charles Odii stressed the importance of.SMEs in Nigeria and the opportunities for growth and investment in this area. Margaret Olele shared a goodwill message at the event.

American Business Council Nigeria joined the Black History and Lifestyle Organization in Los Angeles, California, to discuss opportunities for trade and investment collaborations between Nigeria and California, especially the cities of Los Angeles and Carson. The Governor of California was represented by the Transportation Secretary Toks Omishakin and the Nigerian Delegation was led by the Honourable Minister of State for Steel Uba Maigari Ahmadu. The CEO of the Council, Margaret Olele, and the Director of Trade, at the Ministry Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Akinremi Bolaji, had a fireside chat to discuss Nigeria's Business environment and opportunities for trade, including opportunities around sister cities and the Mayor of Carson Lula Davis Holmes reiterated the interest in partnering on trade and investment, announcing that the city recently signed a sister city agreement with the city of Awka in Anambra state. The Commissioner of Los Angeles Ports met with the Nigerian delegation to discuss opportunities around having hubs within the African Continent. The LA Port is the largest in North America.

Today at the Global Tech Africa Conference, members of the American Business Council Nigeria ICT Committee shared insights on the Panel Session focused on Public-Private Partnerships in Africa's Tech Growth. The Panel centered on the pivotal role Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) play in accelerating Africa's digital transformation. The panelists emphasized PPPs as catalysts for growth, discussing their organizations' initiatives in fostering these partnerships and the importance of creating an enabling environment for tech investment and innovation in Nigeria. They also provided advice for startups and small businesses seeking partnerships with organizations such as theirs. Lawrence Amadi, FCA, MBA, ACMA of KPMG Nigeria, was the moderator, and the panelists include Adewolu Adene of Google, Chidozie Arinze of Visa, Nonye Ujam of Microsoft (joined virtually), and Nnenna Irebisi of Amazon Web Services (AWS).
