Our analysis reveals that, despite shared concern over inequalities and limited opportunities, opinions on solutions differ. Across the OECD countries surveyed, there is strong support for policies aimed at fostering equal opportunities and limiting market disparities. On the contrary, redistributive measures receive a milder level of support. A large majority of respondents also believe that the private sector can play a significant role by paying fair wages, addressing wage inequalities, creating jobs in the country and by investing in their workforce. Current evidence on climate system tipping points shows that we are already entering the warming range at which these potentially catastrophic impacts become possible. Any overshoot beyond 1.5C and many tipping points become likely. This underlines the immense importance of rapid emissions reductions today. At the regional level, individual tipping points are associated with different types of potentially severe regional or local impacts, such as extreme temperatures, higher frequency of droughts, forest fires and unprecedented weather. At the global scale, tipping points could potentially lead to cascading global impacts with additional carbon emissions and higher sea-level rise rates. Read our Climate Tipping Points report for the latest insights for effective policy action. We outline how climate risk management strategies can better reflect the risks of tipping points in the areas of mitigation, adaptation and technological innovation. OECD core inflation (inflation less food and energy) remained broadly stable at 6.1% in May, after 6.2% in April. Food inflation stabilised slightly below 5.0% for the third month in a row, following a continued decline between November 2022 and March 2024. 🔗https://whttps://brnw.ch/21wLhFX | #OECDstats #Inflation

OECD energy inflation rose markedly from -0.1% in April, to 2.5% in May, its highest level since February 2023, with increases in 24 OECD countries. The strongest increases were recorded in Türkiye, Denmark, and Japan. Energy prices in Türkiye have doubled compared to the same month the previous year, due to a base effect related to a temporary gas allowance in May 2023. 🔗 https://brnw.ch/21wLh2e | #OECDstats #Energy
