Welcome to the CoPsyN Sleep Lab

Mission Statement

The first mission of the CoPsyN Sleep Lab is to rigorously advance scientific knowledge and understanding of sleep in relation to health and well-being. We are dedicated to conducting meaningful and translational research that hopefully will lead to improvements in the treatment of mental health disorders. The second mission of our lab is to train and mentor the next generation of scientists, clinicians, and innovators, empowering them to make significant contributions to neuroscience research and its application in improving human health.

Commitment to Diversity

The CoPsyN Sleep lab recognizes that diversity at all levels of academia and research is needed for many reasons, including enhancing innovation and creativity, improving health care disparities, and broadening the range of research questions and topics. We acknowledge the historical underrepresentation and marginalization of specific communities in these spaces and are committed to rectifying these disparities. The CoPsyN Sleep Lab is dedicated to cultivating an inclusive, equitable, and supportive environment where all individuals can thrive and pursue their career aspirations while contributing to impactful and rigorous science. Examples of this in practice include creating flexible work schedules that accommodate all experiences and needs, celebrating lab members and their milestones in life and science, establishing a code of conduct that ensures respect for self and others, modifying research protocols to be more accessible to a wider participant population, and contributing service to committees that are advancing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Justice at an institutional and national level.
