𝗔 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺! ⚓️ The Cluster Maritime Luxembourgeois asbl, in collaboration with the Embassy of Belgium in Luxembourg and the Belgian Navy, organized the 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗮 symposium at the residence of H.E. Thomas Lambert, Ambassador of Belgium to Luxembourg. 👉 The event brought together industry leaders, experts, and stakeholders for an evening of insightful discussions and networking. It highlighted our commitment to nurturing dialogue and cooperation between both countries and to strengthening the defense and maritime industry sectors. Guests had the honor of listening to Admiral Tanguy Botman, commander of the Belgian Navy, who introduced the topics and shared concerns from the Belgian Navy. The Admiral set the stage for the following two key presentations: 🎙 Lieutenant-Commander Ilja Van Hespen discussed legal frameworks for Unmanned Autonomous Vehicles. He explained the use of these new technologies and challenges. Lieutenant Steven De Baerdemaeker discussed cyber threats and explained the approach to secure vessels. The Belgian Navy mentioned their work with the industry, including with our member GEOxyz — Patrick Reyntjens, and who was our guest speaker for this year's 𝘎𝘢𝘭𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘴 𝘈𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘴. 🌊 The presentations were followed by a Q&A session in which the participants actively engaged in stimulating discussions. The symposium concluded with a walking dinner, where guests continued to exchange ideas and meet each other. 🤝 We extend our sincere gratitude to H.E. 🙌𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 '𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐚'!🙌 We have marked a significant milestone at the Fehmarnbelt tunnel project with the official naming ceremony of our multi-purpose pontoon, ‘Maya’. Designed for the construction of the world's longest immersed tunnel between Denmark and Germany, ‘Maya’ will play a crucial role in laying a uniform gravel and stone foundation on the seabed before the immersion of the 89 tunnel elements. This high-tech operation involves precise work up to 40 metres below sea level, ensuring the stone and gravel bed is positioned with centimetre-level accuracy along the 18 km stretch. ‘Maya’ is equipped with a unique subsea gravel installation frame, known as the Submerged Dumping Tool, which operates like a 3D printer under water, meticulously putting gravel layers inside the tunnel trench. We were honored to have Vibeke Grave, Second Deputy Mayor of Lolland Municipality, as the godmother of ‘Maya’. In collaboration with Cluster Maritime Luxembourgeois asbl, the Embassy of Belgium in Luxembourg and Belgian Navy we met with 🇧🇪 and 🇱🇺 maritime companies and authorities at the residence. With Belgian Cybercommand as an active and esteemed participant. The main themes for presentation and discussion were : ▶️ the national and international legal dimensions of operating drones in maritime environments and ▶️ the cybersecurity challenges of operating at sea. #JDNproject • 🌊 Introducing BELREEFS: the first large-scale offshore project for restoration of oyster reefs in the Belgian North Sea! 🐚💙 Oysters are known as ‘ecosystem engineers’, they form reefs that serve as habitat for other marine life and are therefore crucial for biodiversity. Most of these reefs have however disappeared in the 19th and 20th century, due to human influence and oyster diseases. BELREEFS is the first offshore project aiming to restore these reefs at this scale in the Belgian North Sea. [Développement de la #Moselle] J'ai pu présenter jeudi dernier à un évènement organisé par le Cluster Maritime Luxembourgeois asbl et Ministère de la Mobilité et des Travaux publics le projet MOMMA « amélioration de la Moselle canalisée : création d'un passage à grand gabarit pour le double usage civil-défense » financé par European Commission et son agence CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency. Objectif : faire connaître aux professionnels du #fluvial, des ports et aux industriels les travaux lancés par Voies navigables de France et le SMO des ports lorrains pour rendre la Moselle et ses plateformes multimodales, ouvertes sur l’Europe et la Mer du Nord, plus modernes, plus résilientes et en capacité de répondre à toutes les demandes qu’elles soient civiles ou militaires. 𝗥𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗔𝗬! 👉 The Cluster Maritime Luxembourgeois asbl, with the Ministère de la Mobilité et des Travaux publics, Luxport-Group, and Société Port de Mertert, organized a day dedicated to #inlandnavigation and #maritimetransport at the port of #Mertert. 💡 It began with a warm welcome from Max Nilles (LLM) — Ministère de la Mobilité et des Travaux publics, setting the stage for a series of insightful presentations. His colleagues Kevin Schroeder and Raphael Zumsteeg, alongside Randy Q. — Ministère de l'Économie - Luxembourg and Gabor Pataki — Luxinnovation GIE, detailed various support schemes and financial options available to support companies in #Luxembourg. 👉 Gilles Braquet, CEO of Luxport-Group, gave a presentation highlighting key activities and initiatives driving port development, which he detailed during the port visit. This tour providing participants valuable insights regarding operational capabilities. They learned about different projects, including the exportation from Mertert of steel materials for #TheLine project in Saudi Arabia. 💡 The company Atlante Gestion — Christophe Lefebvre, presented alternative financial aids focussing on equity solutions for stakeholders from inland navigation and shipping. Then, Xavier Lugherini — Voies navigables de France presented the MOMMA project which aims to modernize the #Moselle river. ☀️ We were lucky with the weather and the guests could enjoyed the first signs of summer during a #networking lunch to explore collaboration opportunities, served by the foodtruck of LëtzeBurger, which we thank for the quality of their service.

  Insights on the advantages of domestic waterways & efficient port operations have been gained today on the first Riverlearning Day organized at the port of Mertert with Luxport-Group Group, the Société du Port de Mertert and the Cluster Maritime Luxembourgeois asbl.⚓   This project was initiated by the Luxembourg Ministry of Mobility and Public Works and was a good occasion to not only show the state of the art infrastructure of the only trimodal platform in Luxembourg, but also to present the various public and private support and financing schemes for inland #navigation & maritime #transport 🚢.   A perfect occasion for networking & knowledge-sharing!👏

➡️ On June 18th, 2024, the Cluster Maritime Luxembourgeois asbl proudly organized the seventh edition of the 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀 at Hotel Le Royal Luxembourg. With 140 participants, the event was a resounding success, highlighting the growth and interest in the Luxembourg maritime sector! 🎙 Our Treasurer, Charles Gosselin, opened the event, followed by an insightful address from Minister Lex Delles, Minister of Economy, SME, Energy, and Tourism. He shared valuable insights on the economic landscape and exciting news about an upcoming law regarding ship registrations and #greenshipping. Additionally, Minister Lex Delles honored Alain Hoffmann, retired for several years from the Luxembourg Maritime Administration, offering him the 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘢𝘬 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘯 medal. 🎙 Then Patrick Reyntjens, CEO of GEOxyz, captivated the audience with an engaging speech about his company, its achievements, and future plans. Patrick discussed #data collection and analysis, topography, and the development of unmanned surface vehicles #USV — maritime drones, which is an #innovation that the company develops proactively. Technologies are evolving very quickly in this field and already allow us to envision a different future for the sector. However, legal and administrative frameworks are still missing at every level. 🎙 Fabrice MAIRE, Chairman of the CML and the European Network of Maritime Clusters (ENMC), delivered a speech on the collaboration at the European level during this election period. He talked about the work of the #ENMC, and the Clusters' past and future activities, as well as upcoming events in #Luxembourg. He also announced his candidacy to renew his mandate as Chairman of the ENMC for a new term (2025-2027). 🤝 Fundraising efforts were directed towards the ALAN - MALADIES RARES LUXEMBOURG association, which supports individuals with rare diseases. Anja Di Bartolomeo, Chairman of #ALAN, presented the association's vital work and its impact on our community.
