🚦🌟 After 7.5 years of construction, the new road N434 and the accompanying Corbulotunnel have officially opened in the Netherlands! This new infrastructure directly connects the A44 and A4 near Leiden, significantly improving mobility in the province of South Holland. Comol5 RijnlandRoute, an international consortium of DEME, Mobilis TBI, Croonwolter&dros and VINCI Construction Grands Projets, was responsible for the reconstruction of the Leiden West junction, the construction of the new N434, and modifications to the A4 and A44. Comol5 will also be responsible for the 15-year maintenance of the N434. A remarkable part of the N434 highway is the 2.5 km bored Corbulotunnel, which runs under Voorschoten and the Rijn-Schiekanaal (the Vliet). With the completion of the new road infrastructure, our infra experts add another tunnel project to their portfolio, next to three ongoing immersed tunnel projects. 📷: Vincent Basler #rijnlandroute #infrastructure #infra #rijkswaterstaat #zuidholland #tunnel #roadconstruction

🙌𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 '𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐚'!🙌 We have marked a significant milestone at the Fehmarnbelt tunnel project with the official naming ceremony of our multi-purpose pontoon, ‘Maya’. Designed for the construction of the world's longest immersed tunnel between Denmark and Germany, ‘Maya’ will play a crucial role in laying a uniform gravel and stone foundation on the seabed before the immersion of the 89 tunnel elements. This high-tech operation involves precise work up to 40 metres below sea level, ensuring the stone and gravel bed is positioned with centimetre-level accuracy along the 18 km stretch. ‘Maya’ is equipped with a unique subsea gravel installation frame, known as the Submerged Dumping Tool, which operates like a 3D printer under water, meticulously putting gravel layers inside the tunnel trench. We were honored to have Vibeke Grave, Second Deputy Mayor of Lolland Municipality, as the godmother of ‘Maya’. Some facts about 'Maya': ✅ Dimensions: 130 m long, 48 m wide ✅ Load capacity: 14,000 tonnes of gravel and stone ✅ Construction: 1,500 people involved in the design and construction The ceremony wasn't just about naming 'Maya', it was also a celebration of the remarkable teamwork and dedication that brought this innovative vessel to life! DEME is proud to announce the signing of a milestone Cooperation Agreement with the Egyptian Government to establish an industrial-scale green hydrogen production facility in Egypt’s western desert. Leveraging the knowledge gained from the development of Oman's pioneering HYPORT Duqm green hydrogen project, DEME will apply its expertise to this innovative second facility. The new HYPORT green hydrogen production plant will be located within the industrial zone of the Port of Gargoub, which is the country’s newest commercial port and industrial zone that is situated on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast. The wind and solar renewable power generation infrastructure will be located 70 km southwest of Gargoub and it will be connected to the production facility via a dedicated high-voltage power line. HYPORT Gargoub is a three-phase project, with the first phase targeting an annual green ammonia production of approximately 320,000 tonnes.   👉 you can find more information in our press release: https://lnkd.in/e_mpSJ9m #greenhydrogen #hydrogen #greenenergy #renewables #gargoub #egypt

Exciting news from France!  ‘Apollo’, our offshore installation vessel, arrived this week at the Dieppe le Tréport offshore wind farm in France. Our crew and project team are now preparing the piling operations for the first of the 62 jacket foundations. The project in Dieppe le Tréport is another large-scale offshore wind farm project for DEME in France. It follows groundbreaking solutions deployed in recent years at Saint-Nazaire and the Iles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier offshore wind farm. DEME will transport and install the pin piles and jackets forming the foundations for 62 wind turbines, as well as take care of the transport and installation of the pin piles, the jacket, and the topside for the offshore substation. DEME will also execute the EPCI contract for a total of 120 km of inter-array cables. The 496 MW Dieppe Le Tréport offshore wind farm – which was developed by Les Éoliennes en Mer Services and is owned by OW Ocean Winds (a joint venture by ENGIE and EDPR), Sumitomo Corporation, and Banque des Territoires – is set to supply almost 850,000 people with renewable energy. #offshorewind #energytransition #france #renewableenergy #apollo

💡 A consortium consisting of DEME and leading cable producer Hellenic Cables has been awarded a large contract for the supply and installation of the high-voltage subsea cables for the Princess Elisabeth Island in the Belgian North Sea. The energy island, developed by grid operator Elia, is a world first and will become the cornerstone of a European high-voltage grid at sea. "With this new project, we have confirmed our leading position in the subsea power cable market," explains CEO Luc Vandenbulcke. "We are currently working on the largest inter-array cabling project for Dogger Bank Wind Farm - the biggest wind farm in the world - and earlier this year, we won major contracts for IJmuiden Ver Alpha and Nederwiek 1. Our expertise in cable installation, dredging, rock dumping, and marine infrastructure works combined with our modern and versatile fleet offers our customers an efficient, integrated solution. This is how we are supporting the energy transition and helping countries achieve their climate goals." 👉 you can find more information in our press release: https://lnkd.in/e_nfvRTA #renewables #decarbonisation #greenenergy #electricitygrid #offshorewind #cables #offshore #energyisland #innovation #energytransition #netzero

Historic day for the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel project! Yesterday, His Majesty King Frederik X of Denmark inaugurated the very first tunnel element for the Fehmarnbelt link between Denmark and Germany. This marks a special milestone in this incredible project - the largest construction site in Northern Europe. The element, scheduled to be immersed later this year, will form the first 217 metres of the tunnel between Denmark and Germany. The tunnel will be comprised of 79 large elements and 10 special concrete pieces, currently being constructed in the tunnel factory in Rødbyhavn. The King also met some of the talented young apprentices gaining valuable experience building the world's longest immersed tunnel. To commemorate this historic day, a time capsule has been created, filled with thoughts and items from people involved in designing and constructing this first element. It will be sealed and displayed at the Fehmarnbelt project's Exhibition Centre before being buried near the tunnel portal for future generations to discover. 🏗️ The Baltic Hub Container Terminal in Poland is taking shape! The cornerstone for the new Terminal 3 (T3) quay at the Port of Gdańsk has been laid at an official ceremony, marking a major milestone in this ambitious port expansion project. DEME has executed the dredging and reclamation works, creating a 36-hectare platform that forms the base of the new terminal. Started in October 2022, the construction of this deep-water quay has been carried out by a consortium of Budimex and DEME. With the platform complete and the next construction stages underway, this expansion will significantly enhance the competitiveness of the Polish port, driving economic growth for both the region and the entire country. Once completed, the new 717 m-long, 17.5 m-deep quay will boost BHCT Gdańsk’s handling capacity to an impressive 4.5 million TEU per year. 🎞️ Take a look how the terminal is taking shape: https://lnkd.in/eFiHB787 #dredging #landreclamation #portexpansion #poland #gdansk Port of Gdansk Authority
