CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Parts of Greater Cincinnati could get a severe "pulse storm" on Monday night. If so, it will storm like crazy. A damaging wind gust will even be possible. These kind of storms strengthen and then weaken rapidly in a very hot, humid and unstable atmosphere.

Father's Day brought the hottest temperatures of the year so far and the hottest in 285 days. The high of 91 was the hottest since hitting 90 degrees on September 5, 2023. That was just the beginning of what looks to be an extended period of 90s coming this way.

Monday will have a completely different feel than Sunday with much higher levels of humidity. Temperatures will once again push into the lower-90s but how hot you get will depend on if there is a thunderstorm or not. A few spotty storms could pop up in the afternoon before fading away into the evening. If your part of the Tri-State gets under one of those "pulse storms," it could be severe. But it will be cooler.

Storms fade away early in the evening. Expect hot, humid conditions on Tuesday with highs into the lower-90s and with a few pop-up storms. The heat rolls on the rest of the week. In fact, it may get a little hotter by Thursday and Friday with highs in the middle to upper-90s for some. But humidity may also drop a bit by then.

Beyond Tuesday, don't look for much in the way of rain, but a stray storm certainly can't be ruled out any given afternoon. Because of the expected heat, an Excessive Heat Watch has been issued for areas north of the Ohio River Monday through Friday.

Chief Meteorologist John Gumm said he expects this to possibly turn into a Heat Advisory or Excessive Heat Warning for some before the week is out.
