How AIR Works

During AIR, volunteer web designers and developers learn up-to-date techniques for making websites accessible through specialized training. Teams of designers and developers paired with an expert mentor who guides them. After training, each team is matched with a registered client. They then have eight weeks to work with the client to gather requirements and build an accessible website for their client with help from their mentor. At the end of this period, the websites are judged, and winners are celebrated at the AIR Awards ceremony.

AIR Timeline

The competition runs from mid-September to mid-November, with an awards ceremony in January where the results are announced. Outside of working with your team and organization, It includes four major events, all of which are conducted virtually:

  • AIR Kickoff (September 19, 2024)
  • AIR Rally Mid-Point Check In (October 19, 2024)
  • AIR Final Countdown & Submissions Due (November 19, 2024)
