    [News Release]   Sojitz Contributes Funding to Start-up Developing Next-generation Shipbreaking Technology -Recycling Scrap Steel Recovered in the Shipbreaking Process to Contribute to the Realization of a Decarbonized and Circular Society-   Sojitz Corporation (“Sojitz”), Circular Maritime Technologies International B.V. (“CMT”), a Netherlands-based start-up currently developing next-generation shipbreaking technology, and Jansen Recycling Group (“Jansen”), a ferrous and non-ferrous metals recycling company, have concluded a strategic partnership agreement for the joint development of a new technology that aims to automate, accelerate, and reduce labor needs in the shipbreaking process. In addition, Sojitz has contributed funding for verification testing of the new technology. By increasing the number of shipbreaking yards that comply with Europe’s strict environmental regulations and efficiently recovering high-quality scrap steel, Sojitz, CMT, and Jansen aim to contribute to the steel industry’s ongoing transition to the use of large-scale electric arc furnaces to achieve low-carbon manufacturing of steel products.   Read the full article here. https://lnkd.in/gwGMWdHw

    [News Release]   Sojitz Expands Seafood Products Value Chain in the U.S. through Acquisition of Sushi Avenue’s Takeout Sushi Business and Establishment of MF America -Partnering with Marine Food’s New Overseas Base to Enter the Diversifying U.S. Sushi Market-   Sojitz Corporation (“Sojitz”) has acquired all takeout sushi businesses of Sushi Avenue Inc. (“Sushi Avenue”) via Sojitz Corporation of America, a fully owned subsidiary of Sojitz. Sushi Avenue operates a supermarket takeout sushi business with over 300 retail locations in the Midwest and across the greater U.S. Sojitz will leverage its procurement and product development capabilities developed through its longstanding seafood products business mainly in Japan as it partners with The Marine Foods Corporation’s new overseas base, MF America LLC, to enter the sushi business in the growing U.S. market, which is characterized by diversifying consumer demand.     [News Release]   Toshiba, Sojitz and CBMM Unveil an Ultra-Fast Charging Electric Bus Prototype Powered by Next-Generation Lithium-ion Batteries with Niobium Titanium Oxide Anodes -Now in demonstration operations at CBMM’s industrial plant in Araxá, Brazil, further paving the way to battery commercialization-   Araxá, Brazil and Tokyo, Japan – Toshiba Corporation and Sojitz Corporation of Japan, and Brazil’s CBMM, the world’s leading producer of niobium, have completed development of a next generation lithium-ion battery that uses niobium titanium oxide (NTO) in the anode. They today held an opening ceremony and unveiled a prototype E-bus powered with the new battery, which realizes an ultra-fast charge time of around 10 minutes and delivers high energy density.     [News Release] Sojitz, Sembcorp and Kyushu Electric Sign Term Sheet to Supply Green Ammonia from India to Japan Sojitz Corporation, Kyushu Electric Power Co., and Sembcorp Green Hydrogen Pte. Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, leading energy provider in Asia, have signed a term sheet on June 6, 2024, for the supply of green ammonia produced in India to Japanese off-taker. Sojitz aims to develop the district cooling business in Saudi Arabia through this agreement, beginning with projects such as providing cooling services to real estate constructed by the Saudi FAS Holding group.
