Senior Project Development Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Development Manager to join the team of our anonymous client, a global renewable Independent Power Producer (IPP), represented by Mackenzie Stuart. Reporting directly to the Director of Development, the successful candidate will lead and oversee the development of wind, solar, and storage projects across Italy. This role is pivotal in expanding our client's renewable energy portfolio and requires a strong leader with a proven track record in renewable project development and a deep understanding of the Italian regulatory landscape. This candidate can be based in Milan or Potenza.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Leadership and Management:
• Lead and manage the development of renewable energy projects (wind, solar, and storage) from inception through to financial close.
• Build and maintain a robust project pipeline, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including landowners, local authorities, and technical teams, to secure necessary permits and approvals.
• Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and risk analyses to identify and mitigate potential challenges.

• Regulatory and Policy Compliance:
• Stay abreast of and ensure compliance with Italian legislation and policies affecting renewable energy development.
• Navigate complex regulatory environments and work closely with legal teams to secure necessary project consents.
• Engage with policymakers and regulatory bodies to advocate for favourable renewable energy policies.

• Technical and Financial Analysis:
• Oversee technical due diligence and ensure project designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and manage project budgets, financial models, and business cases to support investment decisions.
• Collaborate with the finance team to secure project financing and manage investor relations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Professional Experience:
• 5-8 years of experience in renewable energy project development, specifically in wind, solar, and storage technologies.
• Proven track record of successfully building and managing project pipelines in the renewable energy sector.
• Demonstrated experience in navigating the Italian regulatory and legislative environment for renewable energy projects.

• Educational Background:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

• Language Skills:
• Fluent in Italian and proficient in English (professional level).

• Technical Skills:
• Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies and project development processes.
• Proficient in project management software and financial modelling tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
