Position Summary:

The country project manager is responsible for 100% projects developed in Bimbo QSR Italy, which consists of n.2 facilities: one in Bomporto (Modena) and one in Monterotondo (Rome).

Main responsibilities are:

  • Lead all yearly CAPEX projects, providing all budgeting information, managing them within the approved budget and resecting the planned time execution.
  • The projects scope includes “light building modifications”, utility connections, cooling equipment, general equipment upgrades, and light civil works.
  • These projects will be coordinated either under the local leadership team or, for bigger project, with the support and coordination of regional EMEA Engineering team.


Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops project budget, objectives, scope
  • Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, and status reports.
  • Takes care of Initiation, planning, development, bidding, procurement, implementation/commissioning, and final acceptance & certification of all projects.
  • Provides direction to all departments and cross-functional teams and works extensively with external vendors.
  • Elaborates specifications (data base of project: process data, capacities, raw/packing materials, GB general & specific requirement, schedule, equipment performances) for leading suppliers to correct offers.
  • Communicates and supervises projects yearly budgets, including all expenditure costs, equipment, transport, installation, importation taxes, building works, utilities connections, etc.
  • Conducts quotations/technical meetings with suppliers, quotation analysis, technical & financial comparison, final recommendation in collaboration with local team/EMEA engineering and general management.
  • Places applicable orders and defines/sets-up contracts where necessary.
  • Monitors the process and follow-ups of any studies or technical meetings with suppliers.
  • Assists and supervises suppliers during the whole installation phase of equipment in the shopfloor, which in several cases have to be managed during weekends.
  • Interfaces/coordinates on daily basis with building contractors

The role requires strong organizational abilities and good time management: plan budget, project development phase, coordination with other departments, implementation and certification/acceptance of all equipment.

Results Orientation. Respect of assigned budget is essential, as well as respect of scheduled time to implement projects.

Stress Management. The roles requires experience in operating in a very active environment, requiring coordination, communication and strong control of several suppliers.

Collaborating & Influencing. Effectively engages stakeholders and drives alignment across multiple functions to achieve results, engaging in joint decision making and resolving conflicts when necessary to balance short & long-term benefits.

Brings excellent negotiation skills & ability to build strategic partnerships. Needs to use collaboration and influencing skills as a foundation for driving changes in the organization.


Education and Key needs:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in and Engineering discipline is required, unless long-term experience in the role can be brought as opportunity
  • Minimum 5+ years of project management experience, strongly preferable in the FOOD INDUSTRY
  • Automotive sector will be considered only if candidates come from suppliers of big OEMs.
  • Good organizational and communication (written and oral) skills in English required (only demonstrated upper-intermediate B2 / advanced C1 levels knowledge)
  • Proven ability to complete major projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Available to work in the weekends (Sat/Sun), if equipment have to be installed when production does not run.
  • Available to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Strong ability to work well in team and with teams in other functions.
  • Superior work ethic, flexibility, time management and organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines and high accountability.
  • Good knowledge of PM tools, Microsoft Office, with focus on “Project” and SAP.
