So much happened at the Breakthrough Energy Summit 2024 #BEsummit2024 I must admit that for me it's been fantastic to meet so many other innovators in the energy and cleantech sector. The event was a remarkable platform for sharing insights and fostering collaborations. I'm also glad to report that the other Energy Dome's delegates who attended the summit with me Francesco Oppici, Marcin Klopot, CFA, and Ben Potter had three busy (and productive) days of talks and meetings. We are all now coming back with a newly found appreciation for what we are doing, and how we are helping in the energy transition together with so many brilliant minds and passionate individuals. A special thank you goes to my co-panellists with whom I shared the stage during today's session, "12 Keys to Scaling Up: Unlocking Cleantech Commercialization". There, and once again, I had the chance to exchange ideas with Mario Fernandez (Breakthrough Energy ), other than Raffi Garabedian (Electric Hydrogen), Robert Schuetzle (Infinium), and Raef Sully (Lilac Solutions.). It was great, and I absolutely loved our discussion and what you all conveyed to the audience. And this was only one of the many highlights of the last three days where all of the attendants engaged in insightful conversations about the future and what’s to come; I look forward to continuing the dialogues and collaborations initiated at the summit and working together towards a sustainable future. Thank you to Breakthrough Energy for having us in London and, most importantly, for believing in us and what we do. #EnergyDome #BEsummit2024 #OurWorldCantWait #sustainability #longdurationenergystorage #innovation #CO2Battery #decarbonization #LDES #renewables

Exciting times ahead for sustainable energy in Australia! This morning, at Energy Dome's headquarters in Milan, our own Paul Smith and Daniel O'Doherty had the pleasure of meeting with Xavier Simonet, CEO of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), and William Peasland, its Investment Director. Our discussion focused on the essential role of long-duration energy storage solutions within Australia's energy landscape. The timing couldn't be more perfect, as the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) just released the 2024 Integrated System Plan (ISP), charting the course for Australia's energy transition to meet the nation's future needs and its government's net-zero commitments. More specifically, the ISP is a plan for investment in the National Electricity Market (NEM) to ensure a reliable and secure power system through Australia's transition to a net zero economy. In a nutshell, long-duration energy storage solutions, such as our CO2 Battery, are essential to retire coal-fired power plants, hence decarbonising Australia's electrical grid. Through active collaboration with the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and other key government agencies, we face a challenging but rewarding path to make all of this a reality. That's because we are extremely confident that in the coming years, Energy Dome's technology will not just play a role, but a crucial role in helping the Australian Government attain its net-zero targets. Together, we're powering a sustainable future! 💡 #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #NetZero #Austrade #ISP2024 #CO2Battery #EnergyDome

This Friday, the European Investment Bank (EIB) Board of Governors will approve its new Strategic Roadmap for 2024-2027, which will support the EU build leadership and #competitiveness in strategic #cleantech sectors. Energy Dome, together with a group of 38 other European cleantech innovators, investors, industry associations, researchers, and NGOs, has sent a letter to EIB President Nadia Calviño and Chairman of the Board Vincent Van Peteghem calling for expanding EIB #guarantees to unlock EU industrial competitiveness. Why are we championing for public guarantees for Cleantech? • Bank guarantee shortfall: European cleantech manufacturers often decline orders due to insufficient bank guarantees -this hinders growth and threatens Europe’s industrial landscape. • Scaling up cleantech manufacturing: guarantees are essential for Europe’s cleantech manufacturing, they bolster global competitiveness, support our green industry, and ensure a resilient energy transition. • Our joint letter: taking part in writing it, we’ve outlined five specific requests to the EIB, emphasizing the expansion of public guarantees, including both manufacturing guarantees and loan guarantees, vital for ramping up production capacity. The very first Cleantech for Italy High-Level Roundtable (Net Zero Technologies for Italy's Competitiveness) was a success. The event, powered by Cleantech Group and supported by Breakthrough Energy Energy, took place in Rome yesterday. I'll go straight to the point by sharing some key thoughts I brought up during the conversation and that I firmly believe in: ➡️ Bankable offtake agreements are essential if we want innovative companies and their technologies to be deployed at scale. ➡️ Regarding the point above, the entire approach must be utterly technology-agnostic. ➡️ Decarbonization is key and the policy framework must welcome technology that is both reliable and safe in order to create genuine social impact. Other central themes resonating from today's roundtable were the imperative of collaboration (between policymakers, innovators, governments, industry associations, etc.), cutting the red tape (read this as "enabling a simpler and faster permitting process at the legislative level"), getting rid of sandboxes at large, fostering a culture where financial guarantees are the new norm within this industry. We touched on several other points, but it's clear that we can cultivate a fertile ground for the emergence of new Cleantech leaders. The potential, and the appetite to make this happen, is there. Together, we are not just participants but catalysts in a movement that promises a brighter, more sustainable future for Italy and the world: through continued collaboration, we can accelerate the growth of the Cleantech sector and solidify our nation's position at the forefront of the global race towards net zero emissions. To everybody involved in the discussion, I say "Thank You", as this occasion presented an invaluable opportunity to engage and learn from you. And heartfelt thanks go to the organizers and keynote speakers, Federico Cuppoloni, Leonardo Massa, Richard Youngman and Julia Reinaud: my deepest appreciation for orchestrating this event. Your efforts in bringing us together are catalysts for change, and these discussions allow for our voices to be heard. Let's get to work now.

Bye Brussels 👋 Another successful event was just added to the books. Yesterday, our own Francesco Oppici kept the Energy Dome’s flag flying at EUSEW 2024, with this key message: “Energy Storage IS NOT (just) lithium!” Many thanks to the organizers of the event: the CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency) and the Directorate-General for Energy for all the hard work that they’ve put into making this happen. The sheer amount of panels, discussions, and ideas that were shared was outstanding, and we are grateful to have been included. A heartfelt shout-out to our co-panelist: firstly, to the keynote speaker Mechthild Wörsdörfer (Directorate-General for Energy, European Commission) and then Doriana Forleo (Energy Storage Coalition), Aurélien Ballagny (Energy Storage Coalition), Dr. Eng. Ana Diaz Vazquez (Climate Bonds Initiative), Rafael Mallo (Storage and New Solutions), Dr. Fabio Genoese (Terna SpA) and Sofia Pinto Barbosa (Greenvolt Group), who all contributed to a successful session on the important discussion about energy storage and renewables in relation to one another. “Tot ziens”, we’ll see you at our next stop! #EnergyDome #OurWorldCantWait #sustainability #longdurationenergystorage #innovation #CO2Battery #decarbonization #LDES #renewables
