Carbfix is proud to be part of the Columbia River Basalt Technical Assistance Program (CaRBTAP), a project selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Technical Assistance partnerships for Carbon Storage. As part of the industry board, we’ll be working alongside leading organizations like Carbon Solutions, PNNL, Carbon Containment Lab, Washington Geological Survey, Idaho National Laboratory, Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI), Washington State University, and others to advance carbon transport and storage and community engagement in the Pacific Northwest region. This initiative will focus on key areas including community benefits, workforce training, storage resource assessment, and legal support, all with the goal of accelerating the responsible deployment of carbon management projects. This collaboration not only aligns with our mission to combat climate change but also paves the way for potential Carbfix deployments in the region in the future. #CarbonStorage #Sustainability #Carbfix #CleanEnergy #ClimateAction

Join BBC News’s Adrienne Murray, our Head of MRV Martin Voigt, and Climeworks Chief Operating Officer Douglas Chan as they visit the Mammoth and Carbfix injection sites in Iceland, where CO2 turns into stone permanently. 🌏 Iceland has an abundance of volcanic basalt, and this bedrock acts like a storage reservoir. When the carbon meets other elements found in the basalt, a reaction kicks off and it solidifies, locking it away as carbonate minerals. “Here you can see a lot of these pores are now filled with whitish specks,” says Dr Voight, handling a sample of drilled out rock. “Some of these are carbonate minerals. They contain the mineralised CO2.” The process is quick, claims Dr Voight enthusiastically. “We're not talking about millions of years.” “Around 95% of the CO2 was mineralised within two years in the pilot project. This is incredibly fast. On geological timescales at least.” Read more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/d3p-SryD #Carbfix #MRV #Climeworks #Climateaction #CCS #DAC

Summit Program Highlight: Closing Ceremony at Jarðhitasýningin // Geothermal Exhibition! ⚡ After our special field trip, we will celebrate the Mineralization Summit wrap-up at the premises of our sister company Orka náttúrunnar / ON Power in Hellisheiði. Experience first-hand how green, sustainable energy is produced at one of the largest single-site geothermal power plant on the planet, launched in 2006. A hydrogen sulphide abatement unit is located at the plant, which uses the Carbfix process to filter out 75% of the hydrogen sulphide and 30% of the carbon dioxide which is dissolved in the geothermal fluids and conducted into the re-injection system. 👉 Register now to the Mineralization Summit: https://eur.cvent.me/YzNq0
