"To me, inclusion means helping me when I am distressed without making a big show of it. Recently, a group of 24 from our Mahad factory accompanied me on a trek to Raigad fort. While most people took five and a half hours, I took eight. The people who were with me took care of me till the end." - Pushkar Pendse, DGM, Godrej Agrovet The Godrej One project is an ongoing oral history made by and about the people who work at the Godrej Industries group. The project tells stories of inclusion and allyship from a wide variety of our colleagues, including people with disabilities, people from LGBTQIA+ communities, and women. This long-running project creates a new history of acceptance, change and belonging at our century-old workplace. Did you know that the first law for persons with disabilities in India was passed in 1995? It was called the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act and yes, it was not as long ago as you expected it to be. Disability laws have since evolved significantly, promoting rights and accessibility for all. Swipe to see how disability laws have changed and where we can do better! 📖 #PWDLaws #Accessibility #PWDRights #DiversityAndInclusion Parmesh Shahani | Godrej Properties Limited | Godrej Consumer Products Limited | Godrej Capital | Maira Q. | Zoya (They / Them) | Nyaaya | Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, Bangalore | NCPEDP - Javed Abidi Fellowship on Disability | Arman Ali | Supriya Nair | PAAVAN PREET MALHOTRA | National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People

Accessibility means freedom from limitations. It means having physical support, as well as having friends to have fun with. It means buildings and infrastructure that everyone can use, and job roles that make the best use of your capability. It means being able to dream. It means being able to ask for what you want. It means a better future for everyone. Access/Ability, our new film about disability inclusion, is now live. Please watch it, share it, and send us your feedback. Dedicated to our colleagues who agreed to be part of the film, and to all our colleagues with disabilities. We love you. Last Friday, we kicked off the 13th season of LOUD (Live Out Ur Dream) at Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune (SIBM)! 🌧️✨ LOUD is the Godrej Industries Group’s exciting campus hiring program exclusively for first-year MBA students. It offers a unique platform for students to showcase their creativity and skills through engaging challenges and presentations. Parmesh Shahani, Lab Head, hosted an inspiring session, delving into valuable insights from his vast experience as a champion for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and interacted with the eager and amazing students. The session at SIBM was a mix of laughter, energy, and interactive discussions. The SIBM campus, with its rainy charm, added a special touch to the event. We had a fantastic time connecting with these talented students and are eager to see where their creativity, passion and potential takes them!! 🌈 Sumit Mitra | Godrej Properties Limited | Godrej Consumer Products Limited | Godrej Capital Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune | Nisaba Godrej | Vandana Lisa Scolt

As part of our ‘Saturday Shoutout’ campaign to mark Disability Pride Month, we continue to highlight businesses and disability inclusion. Today, we are focusing on Accenture - Accenture in India who has been offering an exclusive internship program for neurodiverse folks. [Diversity and inclusion, Neurodiversity, Invisible Disability Women Inclusion, PWD Inclusion, Inclusive Companies, Marginalised Communities, Inclusive Airlines] #dei #diversity #equity #inclusion #women #pwd #DiversityandInclusion #Accenture #company #inclusivebusiness #invisibledisability #neurodiversity #autism #learningdisabilities #WorkplaceEquality #LGBTQ #lgbtqrights #disabilitypride #disability #employee #1 IMAGE - A picture of the Accenture office. TEXT- The opening text reads “Saturday Shoutout” and the title is “Accenture Welcomes Neurodiverse Interns” #2 TEXT - The slide displays text that reads: "In 2021, Accenture initiated a Neurodivergent Internship Programme as part of efforts to create a disability inclusive workplace. They partnered with an organisation called Specialisterne to ensure that both applicants and managers have access to support and expertise to navigate this change. As part of the programme, managers attend training sessions to learn how to interview neurodivergent applicants and best support them through the process." IMAGE - An image of logo of Accenture on their building. #3 TEXT - Text on the slide reads: " To support neurodivergent interns, Accenture reports starting a tailored induction programme: teams organise a structured first week and interns have a designated buddy to help them get accustomed to their new role. Team leads regularly seek support and help in addressing individual requirements." IMAGE – First half of a graphic which is representative of the neurodiversity in our society and how we respond to everything around us in different ways. #4 TEXT - Text on the slide reads: Here’s what we’ve learned about a similar initiative in India. Through Accenture’s specialised internship programme, ‘Udaan’, neurodiverse interns get to experience what working in a corporate office is like. Neurotypical employees are offered virtual reality-based modules on autism and learning disabilities to promote sensitisation and better understanding of how their neurodivergent colleagues go about the world. Here, I have the flexibility to work from home given that I am sensitive to noise and find it difficult to work in a busy office environment.” - Paarth Gururajan, a digital media professional with Asperger’s Syndrome. Invisible disabilities are conditions that aren't immediately visible but still significantly impact a person's daily life. These include ADHD, autism, chronic pain, and mental health issues. In this video, Lab member Rajeev Anand Kushwah discusses the importance of recognizing and supporting neurodiversity and invisible disabilities to foster more inclusive environments. They emphasize that understanding and awareness are key to providing the necessary support and accommodations. Join the conversation! Share your thoughts, resources, and ideas in the comments on how we can make our spaces more accessible for everyone. Let's work together to create a more inclusive world. #InvisibleDisabilities #Neurodiversity #Inclusion #Accessibility *VIDEO DESCRIPTION* Rajeev is sitting on a chair behind a white coloured table while they talk about neurodivergence and invisible disability. *Transcript of audio* My name is Rajeev. In the month of July, we mark Disability Pride Month. Today, we will talk about invisible disabilities and neurodiversity. In India, the PwD Act 2016 adopted a social welfare approach to disability rights. However, today's question is how to include invisible disabilities and neurodiversity in inclusive practices. Broadly, neurodiversity means that people understand and process information differently and behave accordingly. Neurodiversity includes Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, dyscalculia, Tourette Syndrome, etc. Neurotypical people have typical cognitive, developmental, and intellectual abilities. Neurodiverse people tend to operate socially in different ways compared to neurotypical people. In our everyday lives, we must consider neurodiverse individuals to ensure that no one faces discrimination. Moving forward, organisations need to implement structural and behavioural changes - such as printing signs and words in simple language, designing accessible buildings, providing technical assistance, etc. If you have any examples of such practices from your personal experiences or your experiences of working with an organisation, please share them in the comments.
