Founded by Ronnie & Zarina Screwvala, we operate with a single-minded focus of empowering 1 million Rural Indians every 5-6 years. We are bringing together best global practices, corporate thinking and accountability, highest standards of corporate governance to create a model of sustainable development, which is an industry benchmark and replicable at scale. Our vision: Build a model for sustainable and irreversible change by empowering rural communities to become self-dependent, creating rural communities as a strong asset to 21st century India. Our strategy: To Engage, Empower, Execute and Exit. To engage rural communities with corporates, urban youth, NGOs and governments and empower them to co-execute programs that transform their lives which enables our exit, creating role models and change agents for the rest of the country. We currently execute ~35 programmes in our geography and work with partners including Tata Trusts, Reckitt Benckiser, Deutsche Bank, UTI AMC, HSBC, Mahindra & Mahindra AFS, HDFC Bank, Australian Consulate - General Mumbai and RBL Bank to name a few.

We are incredibly proud to highlight our team member, Vishnu Ade's heroic act, where he saved a life by administering timely CPR! Vishnu first learnt the life-saving technique at a health workshop organised at Swades, but was prompt to administer it when he noticed an individual lying unconscious after a tragic road accident. He swiftly checked for a pulse, and proceeded with two rounds of CPR. Vishnu's efforts successfully revived the person, who was promptly taken to a nearby Hospital in an ambulance, thanks to the timely intervention. Vishnu actions serve as an inspiring reminder of the impact of emergency response. Sharing Swades Foundation's commitment to create a sustainable and equitable world, volunteers at Deutsche Bank joined a sapling plantation drive in Maharashtra's Nashik and Raigad, as part of our New Orchards programme. Aimed at augmenting farmer incomes while adding to the region's biodiversity, Deutsche Bank has been a steadfast supporter of the programme that facilitates the plantation of fruit trees such as mango, chickoo, coconut and cashew. Despite the rains (favourable to the plantation) an enthusiastic team dedicated themselves to planting saplings that will bear fruit in the next 4-5 years!
