Last year, we transitioned from Societal Platform to Societal Thinking. A lot of changes ensued including the change in our brand personality and how it manifests. With our 'thinking' hats on, we zoomed out and reflected on the different characteristics and values that defined us as an organisation and zeroed in on a personality that best tells our story - the Co-traveller. While we identify as a co-traveller, we still needed a way to bring this to life. This was when the flow of a river caught our attention and soon became an integral part of our brand identity. Keeping these design principles in mind, we collaborated with StudioSky and Shirish Productions to rebrand our assets including our newly launched website which has gone live over the weekend! We are excited for you to travel along with us as we take this bold new step in this journey of exponential change. Please go through the website and let us know your feedback over email or share it with us in the comments below: https://bit.ly/stlnkd #SocietalThinking #branding #socialimpact #exponentialchange

At Societal Thinking, we co-travel with change leaders to enable exponential change.
About us
Societal Thinking is an approach to realise exponential social change. Social change becomes exponential when it induces a domino effect of more and rapid changes towards building a better society. This systemic approach was developed through many “Do-Think-Do” cycles with change leaders across the globe. The “Do” cycles involved co-exploring, designing and building missions that create impact at population scale and the “Think” cycles helped distil the learning into a set of core values, design principles and frameworks that are open for everyone to use and build upon. At the heart of Societal Thinking is the belief that large social problems cannot be solved by replicating a solution, but by distributing the ability to solve. Change Leaders use Societal Thinking to find new ways to solve social problems by bringing together diverse actors, restoring their agency and providing them with accessible infrastructure (including technology) that enables them to solve their problems in their own context.

The journey of ShikshaLokam has intertwined with Societal Thinking's over the years. And it was a pleasure hosting Khushboo Awasthi, Co-founder, Mantra4Change and COO, ShikshaLokam at our workplace today as part of our Learning sessions. Khushboo beautifully took us on a journey of mindset shifts that shaped ShikshaLokam outlining shifts like 'I know it all to I don't know what I don't know', restoring agency and building ownership, distributing the ability to solve, and importantly, developing an openness to impact@scale. What stood out from the conversation was a quote that kicked off the entire session, "Write your purpose in pen, but your path in pencil." On behalf of Societal Thinking, we would like to thank Khushboo and Aishwarya Rastogi for taking the time to help us with an insightful session. We look forward to the 'sequel'. #learning #socialimpact #leadership #education

"Change is about noticing what’s no longer working and stepping out of the familiar, imprisoning patterns", says Edith Eva Eger in her book, The Choice. #Change sustains when new routines become commonplace. It is the mundane that lasts and scales, and not the exciting or the thrilling. Here's Rajeesh Menon, Head of Growth at FIDE reading an excerpt from our recently launched book from the Think Series, Think Sustain. "All great endeavours start off as a tiny seed, with a small team." These words about the Centre for Exponential Change by Shankar Maruwada, Co-founder and CEO of EkStep Foundation resonate deeply with us. We believe in initiating small changes that make even more changes possible – a domino effect – leading to bigger, rapid social change. "It is up to the wealthy to show the country why wealth creation has been a net positive in India. No society or country will tolerate for too long the continued accumulation of wealth in a few hands, unless that private wealth works and is seen to work for the public good." Rohini Nilekani (Chairperson, RNP), while urging the country’s wealthy to step up, shares how Indian givers are tilting towards a more collaborative model of #philanthropy. In this week of REVIVE campaign, coming up next is Mini report 4. Mini report 4 highlights one of the key REVIVE learnings, multiplying reach and amplifying impact. The RG initiative has proven the immense value of trust and flexibility. With 90% of participants repaying their grants—despite no legal obligation to do so— and several cycles of disbursement, an economic phenomenon called multiplier effect was created. This multiplier effect led to an observation of REVIVE Alliance reaching to people 2-3 times more than the initial reach. The multiplier effect depends on two factors that is repayment rate (%) and cycles of disbursement and it impacts the number of people impacted. Higher the repayment rate and the number of cycles of disbursement, higher will be the multiplier effect. Therefore, higher the multiplier effect, higher will be the number of people impacted. The Returnable Grant program achieved a 2-3x multiplier effect and even up to 5 times in some partners.
