We're thrilled to share that Lend A Hand India recently concluded a transformative teacher's training on the Pre Vocational Curriculum (designed for the students of Gr 6 to Gr 8), aligned with the guidelines of NEP 2020. This innovative curriculum emphasizes activity-based learning to prepare students with the necessary skills of the 21st century. 👩🏫 Over two batches (for new teachers), we trained a total of 48 enthusiastic teachers from 13 different schools from diverse backgrounds across Maharashtra, including Beed, Solapur, Satara, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, and Pune. The training sessions were filled with lively discussions, idea sharing, and plenty of fun interactions. Key highlights of the training included: 1️⃣ Insight into the changes in the education system post NEP 2020 and the necessary adaptations for all education stakeholders. 2️⃣ Comprehensive understanding of the Pre Vocational Curriculum, focusing on Hands-on Learning, Subject Integration, Life Skills Development, and connecting academics with daily life. The training equipped teachers with essential tools and techniques to effectively implement the curriculum in their schools. Feedback from schools and teachers has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the curriculum's ease of adoption and the comprehensive support provided by Lend A Hand India, including training, curriculum, and lesson plans. This initiative is not only cost-effective but also empowers schools to start the program with minimal resources, thereby ensuring broader access to quality education. Most importantly, students are benefiting from engaging activities designed to foster crucial 21st-century skills. We're proud to be shaping the future of education with forward-thinking educators across Maharashtra through Pre Vocational Curriculum. Join us in welcoming Shivani Sahota as "Officer " (Outreach & Content), Delhi. Shivani brings a wealth of experience and skills that will be invaluable in advancing our mission. Shivani has a Master’s degree in English and a Post Graduate Diploma in Development Management from the Indian School of Development Management (ISDM). She has been shaped by a nomadic upbringing but feels the most at home in the city of New Delhi. Since her undergraduate days, she has been engaged in the social sector through volunteering and various short-term engagements and internships that has deepened her resolve of working selflessly for the betterment of society. She has enjoyed interacting with children and young people through these engagements. In her free time, Shivani likes to spend time in nature, watch birds, read, do yoga, travel, and watch movies. We are thrilled to have  Shivani on board and look forward to achieving great things together!

I’m excited to announce that early registrations for the Dasra Philanthropy Forum (DPF) 2024 are open. This year is particularly special; it marks the 10th anniversary of our first DPF in New York City, that was held at the Ford Foundation in 2014. Economic Survey: Lend A Hand India model to operationalise Vocational Education We are excited to announce that Lend A Hand India has received significant recognition from the Government of India. Our work has been featured in the Economic Survey of India 2023-24, which is an important annual publication by the Ministry of Finance. Chapter 7.68 of the survey dedicates a paragraph to our model, showcasing not only our approach to Vocational Education but also how civil society can collaborate to implement government policies. Here’s an excerpt from the survey: "7.68: To implement vocational education across the learning ladder, the model of Lend A Hand India (LAHI), an NGO, is a good example. The LAHI model involves civil society’s collaboration with the government to introduce vocational education as a core curriculum component, establish labs, recruit and train vocational trainers, organize internships, and provide placement support. By offering comprehensive vocational education services and engaging with key stakeholders, civil society can actively participate in implementing the innovative features of NEP 2020." This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. While we never sought such accolades, it is incredibly rewarding to see our efforts acknowledged on such a prestigious platform.
