The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), along with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Royal Government of Cambodia, launched the Tonle Sap Smallholder Development Project (TSSD-AF) with a $60 million budget, including $10 million from IFAD, to train farmers in climate-smart agriculture. The project reached 26,818 households across seven provinces, offering climate-smart agriculture training and field demonstrations. 🌊🌴 Economic Transformation in Southwest Papua 🌴🌊 Through the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Village, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and local authorities, the beautiful and biodiverse islands of Raja Ampat in Southwest #Papua are experiencing a remarkable transformation. The Integrated Village Economic Transformation Programme (TEKAD) is driving substantial and measurable improvements in the living standards of these remote island communities. By #hiring and training local facilitators, TEKAD ensures #community support for long-term #planning, fostering sustainable economic growth. In Bianci, villagers now earn double the income by producing salty #fish and fish floss instead of selling raw fish. In Saukabu, residents are piloting virgin #coconut oil production, which has boosted their income compared to selling raw coconuts. TEKAD's initiatives are not just about economic gains. They're about changing mindsets, empowering women, and creating sustainable business models that will benefit these communities for years to come. "The development of the village is our own responsibility – and this project is the catalyst that allows us to take matters into our own hands and grow," says Village Head Sayuti Daad.
