From parts manufacturers to charging solutions providers, startups in the electric vehicle (EV) space are attracting funds. The charging infrastructure segment has raised $46.7 million in funding across three rounds so far this year, Jyoti Banthia reports for businessline, citing Tracxn data. In 2023, this segment raised $188.5 million via 18 deals, the data shows. This fund-raising spree is fuelling an expansion drive. Charge+Zone has more than 2,000 charging stations and is present across over 75 locations. Kartikey Hariyani, the company’s founder and CEO, says that it is adding one charging station every day. ElectricPe has the largest charging network in Bengaluru and plans to expand into two or three cities this year, the report says. Exponent Energy, which provides rapid charging, operates across six cities and has forayed into the three-wheeler passenger vehicle market in partnership with Omega Seiki Mobility this year. There is still a demand-supply gap when it comes to charging, but companies are looking to address it with the use of AI, says Karan Mehta, Venture Principal at Green Frontier Capital. Meanwhile, manufacturers that shifted from another industry to EV parts are also seeing increased investor interest, Soumyajit Saha reports for The Economic Times. While motor control units-manufacturer Indigrid started out by producing TV set top boxes, Matel began with making solar water pumps. Such firms, among others, have raised funds for the first time in the last couple of months, the report says. A lot of large players are specialised in their manufacturing, which provides a space for smaller companies, say industry executives. While it wasn't the country's first electric car, the Reva is arguably the pioneering EV that introduced the concept of electric mobility to the Indian populace. #evrevolution #electricmobility #revaelectriccarcompany
