📰 Want to succeed in your career or branch out into a new one? In a rapidly changing world, lifelong learning is the best way forward – for both individuals to advance their careers and for employers to develop their organisations. "The outdated vision of higher education being front-loaded after school has really shifted to a better understanding of the fact that many of us need to dip in and out of higher education throughout our lives, throughout our careers, to better enable us to adapt to our changing world and our changing workplaces.” - Nora Trench Bowles Recently Nora Trench Bowles (Head of Lifelong Learning, Skills & Quality at Irish Universities Association) and Fiona Gamble (MicroCreds Project Lead at Trinity College Dublin) spoke to The Irish Times about the importance of lifelong learning and how #microcredentials can help more people to engage with formal, accredited learning in a short and flexible way that fits around their current commitments. James Sullivan (Client Services Manager at Cpl’s Talent Evolution Group) also highlighted how #microcredentials can benefit both learners and enterprise. "Employers are aware of the importance of retaining and developing their talent. Utilising micro-credentials for upskilling purposes provides greater internal mobility opportunities, which in turn helps ensure employee retention within the company,” he explained. 📰 Bridging Skills Gaps in Agriculture: The Role of Micro-credentials Professor Frank Monahan (Dean of Agriculture and Head UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science ) recently spoke to the Irish Farmers Journal about the skills challenges facing the agriculture sector in Ireland and the role #Microcredentials can play in ensuring the sector's workforce remains knowledgeable and adaptable, ultimately contributing to the sector's growth and sustainability. "In the case of the UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science our #microcredentials are online and self-directed. So, people do it at their own pace and there are lots of interesting options available on topics including food regulation, global food systems, advanced animal nutrition and communications and agri innovation" ℹ️ https://lnkd.in/gYB9V52w Higher Education Authority | Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine | Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science | Irish Universities Association
