Check out this #RPL #MicroCred from Maynooth University Department of Adult and Community Education 🌟 'Understanding and Applying Recognition of Prior Learning in Tertiary Education.' 📚 Why RPL Matters: According to Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where prior learning is formally identified, assessed, and acknowledged. It makes lifelong learning more accessible by valuing education, skills, and experiences gained through work, volunteering, and other life activities. Effective RPL promotes inclusivity and equality, motivating people to engage in education by recognising qualifications from different jurisdictions and subjects. However, many educators are hesitant to fully implement RPL due to concerns about assessment standards and unfamiliarity with legal and policy guidelines. This micro-credential is designed to address these concerns by building the knowledge, skills, and competencies of those who take part. It will draw from theoretical foundations, legal frameworks, and examples of best practice to ensure graduates leave the programme confident in their capacities to implement change in their workplaces be these Further Education or Higher Education. 🎓 What You’ll Learn: This micro-credential addresses these concerns by equipping participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to implement RPL effectively. You will learn to: ✅ Understand the key principles and theoretical considerations of RPL. ✅Analyse and improve existing RPL practices within your institution. ✅Evaluate national RPL policies within the context of European education frameworks. ✅Develop fair and transparent assessment strategies for prior learning. ✅Advocate for RPL to create diverse learning environments. 📝 Course Details: Requirements: No primary degree needed, but applicants must be involved in teaching, accreditation, or quality assurance in Further Education or Higher Education settings. Delivery Mode: Blended Start Date: November 2024 Level: 8 Cost: Subsidised at €300 Duration: 6 weeks Application Deadline: 7th September 2024 ECTS: 5 👉 Find out more or apply here: https://lnkd.in/dxNQUjfs Carol Lynch MU Postgraduate Studies MicroCreds Technological Higher Education Association (THEA) Irish Universities Association #YourLearningCounts #MaynoothUni #RPL #YourLearningCounts #LifelongLearning #ProfessionalDevelopment #HigherEducation

#RPL Learner success at Trinity College Dublin from Mike Hanrahan of Stocktons Wing! A successful author, musician, songwriter and producer and Atlantic Fellows #Equity in Brain Health with Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI), Mike Hanrahan of renowned traditional Irish band Stocktons Wing became interested in brain health after his mother’s diagnosis of #dementia and his growing awareness of the role of the creative arts in dementia care. When Mike applied to the Postgraduate Certificate for Equity in Brain Health at the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) in Trinity, he had no formal third level qualifications, but he did have a long career in the creative arts and in leadership roles. His experience supported his application to the course which he now describes as ‘the best year of his life’. The RPL process helped Mike to gain access to a programme which has had life-changing positive impact on him both personally and professionally.' 👏Thanks to our RPL Project Lead at Trinity Dr. Graham Glanville and all who played a role in bringing this brilliant and inspiring video together and sharing Mike's inspiring journey and the incredible possibilities that RPL opens up! #YourLearningCounts #HCIPIllar3 #TrinityCollegeDublin #GBHI #BrainHealth #CreativeArts #DementiaCare #LifeChangingJourney
