Our research for the National Transport Authority/Iarnród Éireann has been published. One day a year - usually a Thursday in November - Amárach's team counts every passenger getting on and off every train/Dart at every station throughout Ireland from the first train leaving the station to the last one arriving some 20 hours later - a monumental task. Minister Joe O'Brien has today published an Action Plan which aims to address Food Poverty in Ireland. The Action Plan published today is a result of the extensive work undertaken by the Food Poverty Working Group, including a pivotal case study approach wherein people directly experiencing food poverty were engaged with, in order to provide the group with a deeper understanding of the drivers of food poverty and to inform policy recommendations to address the drivers. Today we published our fourth volume of the Penneys Pulse of the Nation Index which explores the topic of sustainability - what it means to consumers in Ireland and how it’s influencing their lifestyles and spending habits. In partnership with Amárach Research, our report highlights a confused consumer who wants to do the right thing, but won’t pay more to do so. As always, we shine a light inside Penneys to showcase how this is reflected in our customers’ spending habits, and the initiatives we have in place across our business and store network. We also recently held a panel discussion in Primark’s Dublin HQ, with special guest Minister of State, with responsibility for the Circular Economy, Ossian Smyth where we previewed the research findings and encouraged open discussion on consumer behaviours towards sustainability as well as the broader challenges facing the fashion retail industry in this space. The conversation was hosted by Claire Taaffe alongside Lynne Walker Director of Primark Cares and Gerard O'Neill, Chairman of Amárach and we were joined by members of government, industry and NGOs.
