The Secretariat for the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), an intergovernmental organisation established in 1973 by the Treaty of Chaguaramas. #CARICOM Heads of Government have endorsed a strategy for the region's digital transition, focusing on digital integration, infrastructure, connectivity, digital skills, workforce development, capacity-building, and policy environments at the 47th CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting in Grenada, 28 -30 July 2024. The strategy includes a digital skills fund for 10,000 CARICOM youths, a digital skills training network, and a Digi-Smart CARICOM Digital Skills Initiative. His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana expressed optimism at the Closing Press Conference of the 47th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM, stating that investments in agriculture, policy formulation, and the dedication of CARICOM Heads of Government will lead to success in reducing the region's high food import bill. Despite the damage and loss from Hurricane Beryl, President Ali believes that the region will be successful in reducing the food import bill and expanding production.
