About Dance Punk

Dance Punk, also known as disco-punk, punk-funk and techno-punk, is a dance-oriented subgenre of post-punk music. Sporting stylistic similarities to disco, funk, and new wave, dance punk incorporates electro-punk music into calmer melodies that make it easier to dance along to.

The term “dance punk” was first used in the 1980s to refer to punk music with a danceable rhythm and tempo in comparison to punk rock’s typical style of being hard, fast, and loud. As electronic dance music gained popularity throughout the ‘80s and into the '90s, some punk rock acts began to incorporate EDM into their music, resulting in the birth of the dance punk genre as it’s known today.
