Eyes Wide Open is the debut album of American singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter. The album was released in April 2015 with Hollywood Records.
Sonically, the album consists of acoustic folk pop songs and soft piano ballads. The album deals with themes of youth, young love, and making the most of life. In general it explores a playful, innocent side of life.
My career has come together very organically and I’ve enjoyed where my life has taken me to so far. I think if I released an album at age 12, I’d probably have regretted it immensely. Even listening to Eyes Wide Open now, the album I released at 16, I already feel like it doesn’t feel like the me I am today. But I do recognize that it was a version of myself I was at one point, and honestly, I regret nothing. In the time since, I’ve had the chance to act and learn more about that side of myself, and it’s in turn helped with my singing and songwriting process.
