Santa Maria Youth Organizer, FT

Region: Santa Maria 

Description:

FLA is seeking an experienced Full Time Youth Organizer in Santa Maria to train, develop and empower Latinx/BIPOC youth to mobilize and create a positive change in Santa Maria. The Youth Organizer will work with youth on improving social conditions for Latinx community members; especially, the youth organizer will co-lead campaigns to address education inequities, health equity, and immigration issues through youth-led advocacy and media campaigns. The Youth Organizer is responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of organizing projects in the aforementioned areas. The Youth Organizer will support the ongoing leadership development of youth leaders. The Youth Organizer will also work to engage community members, FLA youth, and parents, to respond to and improve social conditions. Research Ambassador

Region: Santa Maria | Ventura | Santa Barbara | San Luis Obispo| Monterey

Description:

The State of BIPOC Youth Survey is a collaborative project between The Center for Publicly Engaged Scholarship at UCSB and Future Leaders of America (FLA) with the guidance of Dr. Victor Rios, Associate Dean of Social Sciences & Professor of Sociology. The project will consist of a survey and focus groups documenting assets and needs among high school-age youth of color in Santa Barbara County, Ventura, Monterey, and San Luis Obispo Counties. Findings from the study will emphasize racial equity by focusing on health and wellbeing, education and achievement, Spanish-speaking communities, Indigenous youth, system-impacted youth, Black students’ experiences, and school and community safety. By sharing their thoughts, experiences, and concerns via the survey, BIPOC youth can enact change through research, data issemination, policy change, and advocacy.

Administrative Assistant, PT

Description:

Description: FLA Administration team is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Administrative Assistant to work 20-30 hours a week. Under the supervision of the Executive Affairs Manager, the Administrative Assistant will assist with maintaining a filing system, both electronic and physical. This position is responsible for performing a variety of specialized clerical work, and bookkeeping duties.

Voter Engagement Campaign Team Lead, Part-Time

Region: Santa Maria and Santa Barbara (hybrid position)

Description:

The Campaign Team Lead will lead a team of phone bankers in running a 5-week nonpartisan civic engagement program to get out the vote (GOTV), engage voters on the issues of housing and tax equity, and build a statewide membership base of progressive BIPOC youth. The person in this role should be strongly motivated, disciplined with time management, and highly skilled in mobilizing BIPOC youth to get involved and take action.

Phone Banker, Part-Time

Region: Santa Maria and Santa Barbara (hybrid position)

Description:

The Phone Banker will engage voters through a 5-week nonpartisan phone banking campaign to get out the vote (GOTV), create awareness around housing issues and tax equity, and, in the process, recruit PowerCA Action’s members. The person in this role should be strongly self-motivated and highly skilled in conversing over the phone and in person to mobilize BIPOC youth to get involved and take action.

Lompoc Youth Organizer, FT

FLA is seeking an experienced full-time in Lompoc to train, develop and empower Latino/a/x youth to mobilize and create a
positive change in Lompoc. The Youth Organizer will work with youth on improving social conditions for Latino/a/x
