Time to get to know our extraordinary colleagues! Up this week is Rachel Valentine. 💙 Rachel is our General Manager for the US, helping support general operations and overseeing HR in the US. She's been with us for almost seven years! "The best thing about Vincit is the people and freedom. I love the team I work with, and everyone that's passed through the doors in the last 7 years. Colleagues are always curious, kind, and fun. Plus, the freedom to 'do as you would' with greater autonomy over your work structure is something I've always appreciated," says Rachel. Alongside work, Rachel volunteers in dog rescuing. In 2022 she fell ill on a work trip to Finland and once back home recovering she wanted some cheering up. At that time her Instagram fed lots of content on shelters and dogs needing adopters or fostering which gave her the idea of fostering while she got better. Luna arrived in 2023, and you could say she is a "failed" foster, as they decided to keep her. Since then, she has been active in the rescue community in SoCal, helping with transporting rescues, and assisting at rescue events, and has also fostered two other dogs. 🐶 Fostering a new dog straight from the shelter is a challenge but really only requires patience and love. Vincit's flexible approach to working from home and flexible hours allows Rachel to consider her foster dogs or volunteering needs. "I'm really grateful to the US team for being supportive anytime I mention I might need to step away for a few hours during the day to volunteer in some capacity," says Rachel. When asked what's the most rewarding part about volunteering in dog rescuing, Rachel mentions the time she gets to spend with new furry friends and knowing she is part of their journey to a better life. The dogs often start in pretty sad states, but getting to help them heal—physically and emotionally—is the most rewarding part. 🧡 If anyone is interested in learning more about the valuable impact of fostering, transporting, or even sharing about rescue work with others, Rachel is always happy to chat! If you're interested in working alongside Rachel, have a look at our open positions 👉 www.vincit.com/careers

Human beings tend to aim towards doing the right thing, of course, everyone does it according to their terms, attitudes, beliefs, and presumptions, but in the end, doing what's right is what we're commonly aiming towards. 🎯 But who gets to define what's right and can businesses ever be ethical? These are some of the questions Teemu Viita-aho dives into in his thought-proviking article about ethics, beliefs and business culture. Today, most companies engage in multi-channel sales, offering products both online and offline. However, multi-channel sales tend to be fragmented, with different teams focusing on developing customer experiences for specific channels. The solution is to move beyond multichannel to omnichannel sales, which offers a better experience for customers. But in order to make this happen, you need to start with a deep understanding of customer expectations, needs, and behavior. In other words, you need a lot of data and advanced analytics. Time to get to know our extraordinary colleagues! Up this week are Joona Prehti, Joonas Hiltunen, Martti Grönholm, and Mikko Pirhonen! 💙 This amazing group was part of the software project course at the University of Tampere. Known for its demanding workload, the course allows real companies to bring their project ideas, which students execute in groups. The goal is to help students connect with the business world and gain experience working in an IT company. 💻 This team, which included Vivian Lunnikivi, Sara Brentini, and Jere Koski, was determined to work with Vincit, given its stellar reputation in the IT circles of the University of Tampere. They persistently contacted Vincit's Ari Kontiainen until they got the green light. Their project was the Get a Room app, a web-based application for booking and checking available meeting rooms. Get a Room is a progressive web app (PWA), meaning it runs in a browser but can also be installed on devices. The project had a significant impact on their career decisions, with four out of the seven team members applying to Vincit. The course allowed them to get to know Vincitizens and experience working here, while Vincit got to see their potential as future hires. To this day, the Get a Room app is frequently used at Vincit, making the university project a true success! When asked about the best thing at Vincit, the group responded, "The events organized by Funsquad! The events are made with love and significantly increase team spirit. In addition, there is generally a human-centric culture at Vincit, interesting projects and great colleagues!" - and, of course, the Get a Room app! 😉 🌟 Congratulations Joona, Joonas, Martti and Mikko on your graduation last week! Ensuring the accessibility of mobile apps isn't so different from the web. Still, it's important to remember that apps are used in varying environments and by people with different abilities and preferences. Taking accessibility into account helps all users and improves the overall usability of the apps.
