THE ONLY CONSTANT IN LIFE IS CHANGE Although we like traditions, someone might even say a bit too much, we believe in the famous Greek quote shown above. As we have been transforming ourselves from a high-tech consultation company into a full-service product house, we feel that our company website, and our brand in general, should reflect and support that transition. To get that done nicely and to introduce some modern vibes into our brand, we contacted a recommended media house and asked for their help. We are sure that our friends will immediately notice the changes in our colour palette. Although we gave the agency the same freedom regarding our beloved logo, we were relieved to see that they left our dear Robot-Human graphics basically untouched. If you have been following us earlier, you will notice that we have been renaming our main products and moving from a Company-Explanatory type format, e.g., GIM-Locator, into generic Finnish words like PAIKKA (location in Finnish). All but one of our products have that funny double consonant, which is pretty prominent in Finnish language. The product names might feel like a mouthful at the beginning, but trust us, you’ll get there and in no time, you’ll sound like a Finn. Need for an agile Finnish robotics SME for those autumn EU deadlines? As the summer holidays are starting here in the Nordics and soon also in the other parts of Europe, the preparations for several Horizon Europe calls with DLs in September/October are already in full speed. In most cases the consortium is fixed, and new members are not willingly invited to this last phase. However, there have been several instances when some partners have dropped out during this time.  Likewise, when the proposal writing advances to a certain level, the responsible writers can detect that something is missing from the offer. It might be related to some EU rules, such as having the right balance in the consortium, being it about the type of partners, about some geographical issues or about something else. Or it might just be a realization of the need to have a particular world-class competence to enable, or to speed up, the implementation of the ambitious research agenda as a whole.  We have been lucky to be a well sought after partner for both domestic and European level consortiums. We have had our share of those rejection letters, but thankfully we have also been rewarded with several approvals. We have recently had several successful Business Finland funded projects together with some Finnish flagship companies especially in the field of mobile work machines and field and service robotics. During the last 12 months, we have been awarded with a project from Horizon Europe framework(not public yet), from EIT Digital, from Eureka/Eurostars, from NATO/DIANA and most recently from European Defence Fund (EDF). All of them required a considerable amount of work, but the more you do these things the better you become. So, if you have a need for a stellar SME from Finland, with decades of experiences in sensor fusion, AI, probabilistic real-time 3D localisation and mapping, situational awareness, traversability analysis and whatnot else, with some serious companies, look no further. GIM ROBOTICS AT EUROSATORY 17-21 June 2024, Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition centre, France The aim of Eurosatory is to contribute to “Inventing the responsible Defence and Security of the world of tomorrow” to tackle all types of crises. As a key interface between all the players in the international community, every two years Eurosatory brings together more than 100,000 professionals working with D&S and managing crisis situations: businesses, governments, military staff, institutions and private bodies, and supranational organisations. Eurosatory is truly THE event for defence and security(D&S). GIM Robotics was the only Finnish company in the first cohort of NATO DIANA Challenge programme announced 30 November, 2023. In May 2024, Project BadB, was selected for a €6 million investment from the European Defence Fund (EDF) and the Ministries of Defence of Estonia and Finland. GIM Robotics is a partner in that project. GIM Robotics’ point man in both above activities is our Business Development Manager, Mr. Tatu Lyytinen. EDF-BADB PROJECT FUNDED! We are proud to announce that GIM Robotics is part of a winning BadB consortium, which was selected to be funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF) in the EDF 2023 Call. The consortium consists of four companies from three countries: KrattWorks (Estonia), GIM Robotics (Finland), KappaZeta Ltd (Estonia) and Rigr AI (Ireland). The project also has strong support from Solita OÜ (Estonia) and Solita Oy (Finland) part of Solita Group. Project BadB will focus on improved navigation solutions for land and aerial vehicles without relying on global navigation satellite systems (GNSS). This will be achieved by using satellite maps data and machine vision algorithms to determine the position of the vehicle. We aim to develop GNSS jamming and spoofing tolerant dual-use solution, which excels in adverse weather conditions and provides navigation capabilities in even the most challenging situations - in Europe and beyond.
