Center for Ag Conservation Welcomes Justin Kozak to the Team
Justin Kozak joined Penn State Extension’s Center for Agricultural Conservation Assistance Training (CACAT) as a Research Technologist in Watershed Management and Biogeochemistry. He will join his CACAT teammates in providing science-based information to inform the team's education, training, and technical assistance programs for conservation professionals and agricultural landowners within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Justin will provide research support to help answer key questions about current and future ag conservation practices used in the Ag Conservation Assistance Program (ACAP) to benefit farmers and the environment.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Justin earned a master's degree at Penn State, University Park, focusing on fisheries and watershed science. Before joining the Center, Justin held the Conservation District Watershed Specialist role in both Mifflin and Centre counties for a combined 12 years. There, he provided landowners with solutions to stream health and stability issues and the establishment and stewardship of riparian buffers. He also possesses experience in surface water monitoring and the development and application of watershed management plans. Justin is a music fanatic who spends his free time listening to and playing tunes. He also enjoys playing soccer, mountain biking, and fishing.
