New Line’s Vacation seems to be making progress in the casting front with a diverse juxtaposition of characters, as Chris Hemsworth and Charlie Day join the reboot of the Chevy Chase classic of the same name. THR first reported the news.
Development for a Vacation reboot was first announced in 2012, but creative differences over the film’s rating delayed filming. The reboot follows up on a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms), the young son of Clark Grisworld (Chase) from the original film, as he brings his own family along for a vacation in the same vein of the one he took as a child. According to THR, Hemsworth is set to play the husband of Rusty’s sister Audrey, while Day will make a brief appearance as a river rafting guide. Day’s connection to Vacation is unsurprising—the film will be written and directed by Horrible Bosses scribes John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein.
