Midnight Kiss is a scary, no-nonsense vampire flick to revive the failing genre. An L.A. detective (feisty, believable Owens) goes undercover to catch a serial killer (sexy, creepy Greer); when he bites her during a scuffle, she realizes it’s going to take more than guns ‘n’ crosses to stop him. Joel Bender (Rich Girl) directs with subtlety and style, and his actors all shine. B+
