We were delighted to host a panel yesterday, in partnership with the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, to showcase the findings of their 2024 annual Digital News Report, the largest study into news consumption habits globally. Ed Williams was joined by Rasmus Kleis Nielsen, Director of the Reuters Institute, and Nic Newman, Senior Research Associate and Lead Author of the report, for a presentation of this year’s findings. This was followed by a panel discussion with Samanthi Dissanayake, Executive News Editor, International Digital, BBC News, Jack Kelly, Founder and CEO, TLDR News, Cathy Newman, Presenter, Channel 4 News, and Matthew Garrahan, Head of Digital Platforms and Former Chief Media Correspondent, FT. The panel examined trust and misinformation, the integration of AI into newsrooms, the changing way audiences access news through digital platforms, the impact of the rise of influencers and videos on news consumption, and shifting consumer preferences.
