Yatindra Mishra is an Indian poet, Author, editor, music and cinema scholar.

Career

He has four collections of Hindi poetry to his credit- Yada-Kada, Ayodhya Tatha Anya Kavitayein, Dyorhi Par Aalaap and Vibhas. He has also written about the life and work of Thumri singer Girija Devi, danseuse Sonal Mansingh, Shehnai Maestro Bismillah Khan and legendary playback singer Lata Mangeshkar. He edited compilation anthology on the Thumri Queen and Ghazal Singer Begum Akhtar titled 'Akhtari: Soz Aur Saaz Ka Afsana’. Translation of his writings Girija, Ayodhya series of poems, Vibhas, Yaar Julahey, Meelon Se Din, Akhtari & Lata Mangeshkar Ji’s biography have been well received. He has also translated the 12th century Lingayat mystic poet Akka Mahadevi's poems titled Bhairavi. A book about hundred years of Hindi Cinema which deals with the authentic analysis of the musical journey of cinema titled 'Humsafar'. He is the editor of a cultural gazetteer of Faizabad titled 'Shahernama Faizabad'. He authored a book which is a detailed documentation of the religious city Ayodhya titled 'Ayodhya- Parampara: Sanskriti: Virasat', with rare photographs, maps and spiritual texts. His latest book 'Gulzar Saab: Hazaar Rahen Mud Ke Dekhin', based on the Life and works of the eminent Film Director, lyricist and poet Gulzar Saheb has been published recently is his authorized biography.

Recipient of many awards for his literary contributions, including Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi Puraskar, Bharatiya Janapitha fellowship, Kalinga Book Award, Raza Foundation Award, Bharat Bhushan Agarwal Smriti Puraskar, Bharteeya Bhasha Parishad Yuva Puraskar and H.K. Trivedi Smriti Yuva Patrakarita Puraskar among others. His book 'Lata: Sur-Gatha' won 6 awards in a year, including the prestigious 64th National Film Award-2016 for Best Writing on Cinema (Swarna Kamal), Mami Mumbai Film Festival Award for Best Writing on Cinema, Mumbai, 2016-17, Dwarka Prasad Agarwal Bhaskar Yuva Puraskar, Maharana Mewar Award, Shamsher Samman and Spandan Lalit Kala Samman. The book Lata: Sur-Gatha was also felicitated by the prestigious Award for Excellence in Book Production 2017 given by the Federation of the Indian Publishers to the publisher Vani Prakashan.

For his literary and cultural involvements, he has visited New York, England, Mauritius and Abu Dhabhi. He has served as the Editor of National Sangeet Natak Akademy, New Delhi's journal 'Sangana' (2019-21). He was also a Cultural Advisor to Prasar Bharati, Doordarshan's Channel D.D. Bharati for the years 2014-16 (Ministry of I&B, Government of India). He has given his services for various prestigious platforms like B.B.C. World Hindi Services, New Delhi (India). He was the Jury Chairman of 69th National Film Award for best writing on Cinema, Jury Member for 66th National Films Awards, 52nd International Film Festival of India, (IFFI, Goa), and Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi Puraskar. His writings are a part of various curriculums, including CBSE Board, Delhi Board, Bihar Board and West Bengal board. He lives in Ayodhya.
