Assessment

[edit]

Here is a list of suggested ratings using immigration as an example:

Standardizations

[edit]

Governments and Ministries

[edit]
  • Articles of the format 28th Canadian Ministry are about the membership of the ministry and cabinet. It should have a list of all people who were a member of the ministry at any point during it. It should also discuss any controversies about the membership list and interesting facts about the membership (for example, it had many Westerners, it had the first woman, etcetera).
  • Articles of the format Premiership of Stephen Harper should be about the policies of the government and its place within Canadian history. Only split into child articles like Foreign policy of the Harper government if the one article would be too long.
  • Articles of the format Stephen Harper should be mostly biographical, though clearly there will be some policy discussion.

Party colours

[edit]

The colours used in tables to identify each political party are decided in accociation with WikiProject Political parties and politicians in Canada and are discussed here. The full colour list can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Political parties and politicians in Canada/list of parties. Templates containing party colours can be found at {{Canadian party colour}}. To start a new line in a table with the party colour, use {{Canadian party colour|Jur|Party|row}}, where Jur is the jurisdiction (formatted in two-letter postal abbreviations). Note that all names of the historical Conservative Party and Progressive Conservative Party share the same colour, but the modern Conservative party has its own.

First ministers lists

[edit]

There is a drive to make all of the lists of Canadian premiers match the format used in the list of Prime Ministers of Canada and list of Ontario Premiers. See /first ministers lists to track the progress.

Parliaments and Ministries

[edit]

See /Parliaments to discuss the layout of all of the pages in the series 1st Canadian Parliament through 39th Canadian Parliament and 1st Canadian Ministry through 28th Canadian Ministry.

Canadian federal election, 2006

[edit]

Some members are working to cross-reference alphabetical lists of MPs (List of Members of the Canadian House of Commons - A, List of Members of the Canadian House of Commons - B, etc.) against Canadian federal election, 2006 to ensure that all MPs elected for the first time in the current Parliament are listed; also against the various MP categories to ensure that the lists contain no redlinks to MPs who do already have articles at different titles.

Infoboxes

[edit]

{{Infobox Election}} should be added to all federal, provincial and partisan territorial elections (i.e. Yukon from 1978 on). However, the template organization isn't easily adaptable to non-partisan elections such as those in NWT, Nunavut or pre-1978 Yukon. Current status is as follows:

  • Federal: 1984 to present done; 1867 to 1980 still require box.
  • Saskatchewan: only 2007 done.

A test page is available at User:Bearcat/Canadian elections templates, and you can also ask Bearcat for further assistance if needed.

For provincial or territorial elections, just input the province or territory name in the "country" field. This works fine with no further adjustments required.
