P.S.

[edit]

The oxford comma can stay or go for all I care, I personally prefer it but try not to be a nazi about it... ;) - Adolphus79 (talk) 18:17, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Well you were right about the " so I'll leave them, but they seem excessive. If they are "oxford commas", perhaps we are in an "over-the-pond" thing and we've had enough of them. Carptrash (talk) 18:30, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Adolphus79: Actually, I am not talking about oxford commas, but whatever. Carptrash (talk) 18:32, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, no... it was an entirely different thought I had because your other edit to the article reverted an oxford comma I had added in a random inline list in another sentence somewhere... P.P.S. I am coincidentally wearing the exact same t-shirt right now, so I don't think we can be too far off... - Adolphus79 (talk) 18:43, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh . . .... that tee shirt. Unfortunately I can only wear that on Halloween or else people hear throw things at me. I had to make mine myself. Carptrash (talk) 18:46, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And as far as MOS:INOROUT, that's just 20 years and multiple generations of Wikipedians' worth of consensus (consensi?) and policy claptrap, as I said on the article talk, even I had to get used to it... lol - Adolphus79 (talk) 18:49, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
One of the things I learned as a parent is that I need to pick my fights very carefully. That lesson has worked pretty well for wikipedia too. Carptrash (talk) 18:55, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Image date

[edit]

Hello! I was interested in the date of a photo you took, File:LSNewarkBank1a.jpg. The file page says it was taken in 2006, is that correct? The vehicles and minor details make me think it's an older photo than that. ɱ (talk) 17:37, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@: Yes, you are right. It was probably more like 1996. Many even a few years before that. It was a 35mm slide ( I think) and sometimes those have dates on them. I'll check. Carptrash (talk) 22:00, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
2006 was when I uploaded them. That picture, and the others now gone, were taken in August 1985. Good eye. Carptrash (talk) 22:12, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Check out the Glyn Johns article!!!

[edit]

Hello, I hope you are doing well! I've been missing having the chance talk to you to be as active as I'd like on Wikipedia as I'd like to be, but as it turns out, I finally have some time (at least for awhile) to to be more active. So, I took an expansion for the Glyn Johns article that I've had hanging around in my sandbox for awhile and finally did something with it--I unloaded a big chunk of text into the article! I'm sure that you'd like to take a look at it. Perhaps you could help out in smoothing out the rough edges? Best wishes! Garagepunk66 (talk) 05:52, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please help me with some information on where this sculpture is? I'd definitely like to categorize it better than "Unidentified sculptures" but I don't have a lot to go on with it. Abzeronow (talk) 16:50, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Abzeronow Time-Life Building, n/k/a 1271 Avenue of the Americas. Alex J. Taylor Henry Moore and the Values of Business Tate Museum.

New name!

[edit]

Hello! I hope that you're doing great. Well I just got a name change--I just went from Garagepunk66 to GloryRoad66. It was a hard decision, I'll admit--I'm going to miss that old name. But, I think that this will work best for me now that I have a few edits under my belt--I guess I'm trying to look more like a "respectable editor" (at least pretend). But, I hope you like the new name. I tried to find something similar enough to to the old name--they wouldn't let me do "GP66", because it sounds too much like JG66. So, I thought about it for awhile and came tried to cook up some suitable alternatives (there was actually was band called the Glory Rhodes back in '66). So, I considered a bunch of things and finally landed on the new name. I hope I got it right. Best wishes! GloryRoad66 (talk) 07:18, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! GloryRoad66 (talk) 15:38, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Cadillac Ranch when I was there.
Welcome to the new you. Of course around here "66" is typically tied to Route 66, but that's not for everyone. I have a few things lined up for the Johns article but don't seem to have the qui to do the work. maybe soon. In any case I like your new name and may you use it wisely. Carptrash (talk) 15:36, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Incidentally, I'd love to travel down what's left of Route66. I did go through Amarillo, TX one time when I was a little kid−I saw the Cadillac Ranch−I think it might be near Route 66. I love mid-20th century car culture, signs, and retro-architecture. I need to get in a car and take a drive one of these days−I'll make sure to get a good tune-up and fill the tank with plenty of gas first−I hear you can go a long way without seeing a gas station. GloryRoad66 (talk) 03:12, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure how much of Route 66 is still extant, but it would be a fun trip. I collect versions of the song, I have perhaps 6 or 7. Carptrash (talk) 15:00, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The Stones of course did a really good rock version. Check out this version by the Visions. I think they were from Mineral Wells TX, which is probably about 100 miles from Route 66.[1] GloryRoad66 (talk) 15:44, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
All right. That's some solid garage rock. Carptrash (talk) 16:11, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I like that picture of your garage band. I also like the quote from Clapton. I put it in a block quote so it will stand out. I was wondering, does he say "workm" or "work" in the book? GloryRoad66 (talk) 23:00, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You found that picture. Los Pathetics in Dixon, New Mexico, here at the local brewery, the Blue Heron, i think. We did a pretty mean Route 66 too. I'm going for Pete Townshend next, you mught need to format it for me too. Carptrash (talk) 05:30, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I just noticed the Pete Townshend quote. I love it. I formatted it a little moved it down to the Legacy section, because I think it perfectly captures the essence of why Glyn Johns is so highly regarded. GloryRoad66 (talk) 21:12, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women.

I think they were from Mineral Wells TX, which is probably about 100 miles from Route 66.[2] GloryRoad66 (talk) 15:44, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
