France's legal deposit system is both the first in Modern Ages and the most developed. I just created a stub for the category but I feel the section should be expanded a bit further to reflect both facts. Rdavout (talk) 17:52, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes indeed it needs some expansion. The UN document (in the reference) seems to have very good historical documentation of this concept. --Deryck C. 23:02, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
