MacConnell's Rice RatEuryoryzomys macconnelli — - As discussed here, common names should only be used for article titles when they are in fact in common use, and this name is not in common use ([1], compare [2] and [3]). Ucucha 12:49, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support move. It's important to note that the species has recently been reassigned to the genus Euryoryzomys and that the count above for the second option listed above (Oryzomys macconnelli) should be added to Euryoryzomys macconnelli. For those who may be skeptical, note also how this is being conducted (Euryoryzomys nitidus) is an example. These are species where there has only been a very recent attempt at formalizing an English common name and we are in the position of deciding whose common name to use. These common names are rarely used outside of the works in which they are originally named and they are rather controversial. For example, did MacConnell's Oryzomys become something else when it stopped being an Oryzomys? --Aranae (talk) 18:42, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
